Sarah Palin truly scares me. She should scare you too.

Fundamentalists of any religion are dangerous. Historically, millions have been killed because of Christian fundamentalists, far more deaths than can be ascribed to Muslim fundamentalists and those of other smaller religions.

Religious fanaticism, in all it's forms, will always be the single most dangerous threat to world peace and human rights. Those who would use their religion to impose their beliefs on others are the reasons for many of society's ills.

I am horrified that someone as close minded as Sarah Palin to other opinions has the potential to become our president. Over the course of the election we have all just endured, she has shown a complete lack of knowledge about the issues that matter to our country.

Whilst I am not a religious person myself, I respect the rights of those who so choose to accept religion as part of their lives. What frightens me the most though are those who are religious who cannot accept mine and exclude all other viewpoints as invalid since they do not mesh with their so called "faith".

Why be scared? Just don't vote for her. I truly do not understand the fascination of the press and comedians with Palin. If it were Obama folks would be screaming racism. If it were Biden (he said some really dumb things –but that’s just Joe being Joe) the left would be saying those right wing conservatives. She speaks her mind and we all have to right to disagree with her and reject her point of view. But a public obsession makes me wonder if the left sees a possible opposition candidate so destroy her before she gets any momentum. It is interesting.

I believe the "left" knows what it's "right" is doing and has no fear of Palin. It's probably the right that's hoping this [and maybe participating in] Palin obsession continues so she'll be a huge joke by the time 2012 comes and then they won't have to worry about her ugly head cropping up.

I think you're really reaching now. The media is obsessed with her because she's a safe bet for good footage, like Britney, during her meltdown. The media was in a feeding frenzy then, too. The public was sick of it then, too. So based on your theory, is Britnet an opposition candidate too? For what party? The "Go Commandos"?

I agreed w/ your comment until you got to the opposition part. Just like you started out... Sarah Palin is just another media driven public obsession. I, particularly find her entertaining... but I also find those people who act like she's a serious politician even more entertaining. One other thing though... we did elect George Bush for two terms... so I personally don't count Palin out. That still won't make her a plausible "opposition" candidate.

After the election, I figured Dave would have to retire the "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches" bit. But he won't, since Obama will fit nicely into the group quoted in the beginning. Bush has left a huge legacy of verbal blunders, so the segment could go on for years, yet.
