startribune.com:

Although he doesn't have a seat, Al Franken will have the floor Tuesday when he meets with Democratic leaders in the U.S. Senate.

Franken, who is locked in a mandatory recount of the Nov. 4 balloting with Republican incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman, will update Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and others on the recount process, said his spokeswoman, Colleen Murray.

The Senate leaders and the candidate also will talk about upcoming legislation, she said.

Coleman's efforts to throw some mud on the MN counting process (without any evidence of wrongdoing) show which way he expects it to go. Meanwhile the Republican governor says there have been no irregularities in the counting and he has complete faith in their process. Coleman should be glad to lose; it will save him from the Senate ethics inquiry into his taking payoffs.

The Senate is a bastion of self-seriousness. One comedian is a start in the right direction.

Franken will probably win the recount and the Senate seat. Recounts typically go in favor of the Democrat. Since there is only a few hundred vote difference among millions of votes cast, I'm sure the uncounted votes will surface. If I were Franken, I would be especially focusing on vote counts in minority areas of Minnesota, especially those with Republican control.

Unfortunately, if Franken wins the recount, they'll probably have to have a recount of the recount -- best two out of three. Hopefully, anyway, he'll win that one too....

The recount is mandatory by Minnesota state law. Coleman and his crew are the ones that need to "let it go". Let the process work.

I think the Democrats deserve Al Franken. He has failed at every other career he has attempted, so why not become a Senator for the Left? I hope this happens and Joe Lieberman is pushed out. This country needs to provide Dems with all the keys so they crash and burn as quickly as possible.

"they crash and burn as quickly as possible"

You mean like the G0P has done (and is continuing to do?).

BTW: Make sure you vote for Palin in the 2012 G0P primary.

Sure... SNL was a huge failure. And AAR is still alive and kicking. And his book sales. Failure? i don't think so. You want to talk failure? Try the GOP.

Al Franken says in his book bill Clinton never sold cocaine out of the Mena AFB! Al Franken also says there is no evidence of voting troubles with electronic machines or evidence of GOP voter purges! AL FRANKEN IS REPUBLICAN LIGHT! Like a lot of other Dems.

I am glad that Franken will be on Capitol Hill at the same time Lieberman is begging the democrats to let him keep his chairmanship. I hope they are in the same room together at the same time. Ask Lieberman if he still supports republican Coleman, against Franken. If Lieberman hadn't campaigned against Franken in Minnesota maybe Franken would have won the race outright on the first count. Lieberman must go!

Having Al Franken in the Senate would be no different than having Rush Limbaugh in the Senate. Franken is as partisan as they come, and very vocal about it too. Why would this be a good thing now that all of the Dems are preaching that we now need to get along and work together? It's easy to sit behind a microphone and bitch all day long. That makes him qualified? Please.

The only reason the Republicans would want to work together would be to reach across the aisle and pick someone's pocket. Al wont let that happen.

Franken is far less partisan than that nutj0b Michele Bachmann that (some) Minnesotans saw fit to re-elect for yet another term. How can her call for an "anti-American" witch-hunt be considered, in any way, reaching across the aisle?

The votes haven't been counted in Alaska yet. Minnesota will have a recount and Georgia will have another election.

Anyone want to bet that Alaska will show a record turnout and Ted Stevens will be turned out to pasture.

No bets on recounts in MN but, certainly Georgians vote again next month.

Joe Lieberman's homeland security chair is on the line with these last three senate races. If the dems need his vote to make 60 he keeps his chair, if they can't reach the 60 with him then goodbye chair. I hate to say it but I hope he keeps his chair.

That decision will be made before any of these three elections are finished.

The decision on the chair has been made. The only question is if he continues to caucus with us or if we kick him to the curb. That depends on the election(s) outcome.

He will lose his chair.

The recount is the law. End of story. MN isn't FL, and Kitty Harris is in a pound somewhere licking her wounds. So, the recount will proceed as required under state law. Once its over, whoever wins, wins.

When Al takes office I pray he doesn't succumb to the temptation to dumb himself down for the rest of the senators.
Al, If you do nothing else in DC - for god's sake, make them think.
