Milan fashion house Piazza Sempione is joining the long list of high-end designers on Oak Street.

The 17-year-old Italian company has signed a lease to open its first Chicago store at 34 E. Oak St. next spring, replacing boutique Sugar Magnolia, according to people familiar with the transaction. Sugar Magnolia recently closed.

The store, to be some 2,000 square feet, will feature Piazza's understated styles and unique fabrics. It will be the third retail boutique in the U.S. and the sixth in the world for Piazza Sempione, which is owned by the private-equity arm of luxury goods company LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
