Oak Park officials are privately on high alert as drug use increases, threatening to allow gang influences to break through the village's borders.

Without addressing the potential problem, organized street gangs could take control of blocks and create a sweeping change to Oak Park's demographic landscape.

Eight to 10 months ago, authorities started noticing an increase in the number of teenagers smoking marijuana, said John Williams, Oak Park Township youth services director.

Hmmm...perhaps it's time to decriminalize the weed? Then there would be no fortune in the "criminal enterprise" of selling it? No life-destroying criminal record for the "criminal act" of possessing it?

Oh, then there'd be no slave population to work in the Prison Industrial Complex! BINGO!!
