I love Michelle Obama, but this is a bit much, don't you think? A little '50s, or something.

Yes I love Michelle too but really, are we going to have cookie recipes? And that awful dress at the acceptance speech - major mist step at a major moment.

will mandi edit this way she's edited the magazines she's been in charge of? surely an editor/author more attuned to American style would be a better choice to helm this book.

mandi did fine in the UK but here in the US?somehow mandi's been lost in translation. michelle deserves better.

I think the world of Michelle Obama. She is very bright, articulate and a wonderful role model for women everywhere, especially women of color. Her life story proves that the sky is the limit if you truly apply yourself and work hard. That said, I don't get all the fuss about her style, I really don't think the clothes are anything remarkable, but the person in them is. I hope that people will focus more on her than her clothes in the next 8 years because I think she has a lot to offer to our country.

I like the notion of having smarts, and being smart. But I agree with you - she's not really Carine Roitfeld or a major fashion icon. And you just know she doesn't want to be - she looks good in what she wears (some major exceptions) but what is so great about her is her grace and how darn bright she is.
