Roberta McCain: A Woman Of Style (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

It's a little late now, but we're still enjoying the delightful spitfire that is Roberta McCain, Senator John McCain's 96-year-old mother who first won fame for buying a car in France after she was told she was too old to rent.

She's the First Granny we'll never know, but we can applaud her singular style and no-nonsense attitude anyway.

In what is quite possibly the best interview ever, C-Span sat down with Roberta during the campaign. In it, she said that she couldn't recall what "Johnny" was like as a boy, but revealed that she and her husband eloped...in Tijuana.

However, her memory returns enough in this Mother's Day video to recall that Johnny was born at the "noon happy hour" on a Saturday, and that there were 27 bottles of Scotch at the club to celebrate his arrival .

Okay this comment was unnecessary. She's just very old and wrinkly. In her defence Michelle's momma also attended some events. However Mama Robinson is shapely, nice looking, fashionable, great grandma and I love her and she reminds me of my mom.

Ok, like Daddy, like son. McCain's mother came from a VERY wealthy family. Hence, John McCain knew he'd better latch onto Cindy if she wanted to be on par with his old man since he was a piss-poor pilot/military legacy.

I think Roberta is cute and I also believe that she knows more about her son than what she is able to say on camera. I am amazed that at her age, she is able to stay on the talking points. Probaby her years living a stepford wife lifestyle. I think it was really cute that when his guilt of not spending time with his mother was transparentm, she said, " I am fine with it! I have no problems"
I understand that to mean, "I do not miss being around this child of mine.I like that he is not around."
I think that McCain's team should have thought this through because it sends a message that she does not like her son, she may love him. One would think that since Johnny boy is so nice, a mother would LOVE being around a nice son.

Did Johnny's father abuse alcohol or what?

Yes. Senator McCain's father was an alcoholic. I believe Senator McCain wrote in one of his books, of an incident where he found his father p i s s drunk on the front porch of their house. I think he probably had a strenuous relationship with him as well.

Few weeks ago, I read an article on Huffington about this granny insulting the President-elect Obama because she had the feeling her son will not win the presidency. I would not repeat the insult here but she was quite rude.

Now that Obama has actually won, I hope she gets over it!

She's loaded!!! Comes from a VERY wealthy family, like Cindy. Never HAD to work a day in her life. That's the secret along with being on dole of the military all her life too.

She had, or still has a twin sister who looks exactly like her. The funny thing is, the twin lived with them and travelled with Mrs. MaCain and the Admiral and no one could tell the difference. When people asked Admiral McCain how he could tell them apart, he answered that it was their problem.
