Johnny Depp Movie Costs County Big

MADISON, Wis. — County officials in Wisconsin are holding the bag following a movie shoot involving Johnny Depp as famed bank robber John Dillinger.

During filming of "Public Enemies" _ Wisconsin's first film under the governor's new movie incentives _ state highway traffic was diverted away from the center of Columbus, 70 miles northwest of Milwaukee. The detour road couldn't stand the load _ and collapsed.

Dodge County was left with a $116,000 repair. It's filed a claim against the city of Columbus that could lead to a lawsuit.

But Columbus Mayor Nancy Osterhaus says talks are ongoing between the city, county and film studio NBC Universal, with hopes that they might split the bill for the March mishap.

"Public Enemies" is out July 2.

Another example of our infrastructure falling apart. And apparently poor planning by whoever was in charge of the traffic diversion. That road should have been inspected before traffic was diverted. I can't see that the film company should bear any responsibility for it

They should be grateful for the publicity and the chance to catch a glimpse of Captain Jack Sparrow. Besides, 116K isn't "BIG". I'm sure the studio will reimburse them.
