Christiane Amanpour Getting Her Own Show On CNN International

In her 25 years at CNN, Christiane Amanpour has hopscotched the world, the very model of a foreign correspondent, turning up at seemingly every war, genocide, famine and natural disaster, slipping through previously closed borders and interviewing even the most recalcitrant of foreign leaders.

But there is one thing she has never done: anchored her own daily news show.

That will change next year, when she starts a nightly program on CNN International, which is retooling its lineup. An edited version of Ms. Amanpour's show is expected to be shown on the weekends on CNN's United States channel.

Great, I really admire her - It's a pity they won't show it nightly in the US but only an edited week- end version. We could really use some more rounded news on a daily basis.

Christiane, you won't read this, but in spite of that, I just want to say that you are the best, a hero in an age of not so heroic journalism. Tough analysis, tough questions, tough situations. Like one contributor here said already....compared to Wolf, et al....well there is no comparison. Be careful out there!

I'd agree with that. Forget the retooling to show on the weekend -- we want the daily show. I have the perfect place in the schedule for it -- Cancel Campbell Brown. By the time you watch Wolf, then you have Campbell, then Cooper and quite often Larry King -- we have listed to the same stories on all the shows. They have become repetitive parrots. You can also send Dobbs to Foxx with Glenn Beck. Dobbs is no "Mr. Indepenent". He's an in the tanker RePug.

Good for her! I love her reporting and try and catch every special she's done. My favorite thing of hers were the hilarious CNN ads where she tries to tutor a CNN correspondent on how to say E-rahn, E-rack, instead of I-ran, I-rack....too funny. She's smart and will be a great addition.
