Clinton 'Disenchanted' With The Senate

The New York Times reports that one factor in Hillary Clinton's decision on moving to the Cabinet is a disappointment with the Senate:

The uncertainty, a week after Mr. Obama met with Mrs. Clinton in Chicago to discuss the idea of her leading the State Department, kept Washington spinning in feverish speculation about whether the two former rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination would team up. Mrs. Clinton was keeping counsel only with a tight circle of confidants, leaving even prominent veterans of the Clinton political operation guessing as to her intentions.

But driving her consideration, friends said, is a sense of disenchantment with the Senate, where despite her stature she remains low in the ranks of seniority that governs the body. She was particularly upset, they said, at the reception she felt she received when she returned from the campaign after collecting 18 million votes and almost becoming the first woman nominated for president by a major party.

"Her experience in the Senate with some of her colleagues has not been the easiest time for her," said one longtime friend who insisted on anonymity in exchange for sharing Mrs. Clinton's sentiments. "She's still a very junior senator. She doesn't have a committee. And she's had some disappointing times with her colleagues."

An air of entitlement is an unattractive thing to carry around, Senator Clinton.

Obama won the Democratic nomination and he beat McCain handily despite HillBilly's predictions otherwise. I think Sen. Clinton is a superb public servant--she's smart, tough, and hard-working but it is high time she recognized that Obama won.

He's not obligated to do anything for her. Her options were rather limited to just be blunt about the matter and now she's been given a wonderful opp. to get out of the Senate. It would've been nice if she (and Bill) had shown some class and just accepted the position w/o all of the drama.

Here we go again. Another day, another Clinton. Enough already. Who really cares. Either HRC will accept the SoS post or she won't. Whatever she decides (and she should have already made up her mind, in my view) the position will be filled by an equally qualified professional.

Hillary and the DLC backed Lieberman,
Until she felt the heat and wielded out of all out support.
She voted for the War and continued funding of it.
She voted for the Patriot Act. TWICE
She voted a NV for the Credit Card and Banking Bill which Equaled a Yes in a Republican Congress.
She voted for the REAL ID ACT.
She would renew NAFTA.
She is a Corporatist.
She is not a Democrat.
She is part of the problem.

NO MORE CLINTONS

NO MORE CLINTONS

NO MORE CLINTONS

Hillary Clinton does not deserve a Committee Chair from the Democratic caucus, but Joe Lieberman does?

Jesus, I would be disenchanted too

Obama knows how tedious the senate is and so he rescued Hillary. After all, he spent two years there and started ploting to get out.

Looks like HRC has the last laugh. Good for her. I am guessing that none of you will ever have anything remotely like SOS on your resume. Bitterness and hatred will get you no where. I am aboard Obama's peace train. Leave your petty comments behind and get on board.

Oh that may have SOS on their resumes here, but it won't stand for Secretary of State, perhaps more like "Same Old S***t"

The fact that Hillary's return to the Senate was like a pathetic scene out of "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?"( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ck-Uo52MOg&NR=1 ) was due entirely to her reprehensible behavior on the campaign trail. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=648-2RE4XAk&NR=1 )

Oh dear, I hope that wasn't sexist. Would it be more politically correct to compare her to Augustus Gloop? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk6CQ-CEhJY

As it turns out, I guess that Obama was disenchanted with the senate also. Otherwise why would he run for POTUS after only being there two years? Moreover, it could be said that the only reason that he wanted to be in the senate was to use it as a launching pad to become POTUS. So in many ways HRC and BO are kindred spirits with lots of ambition. But I don't think any less of either of them. I never understood the criticism that HRC only wanted to be president, blah, blah, blah. I give anybody credit who dreams big and aspires to reach thier goals. The thing is, HRC has done a lot of good in her role as a public servant. BO knows that both he and Hillary have a lot in common. No wonder why he is picking her to be in a position to work so closely along side of him.

I seem to remember that Jack Kennedy was bored by the Senate as well.

The problem I had w. her is that she was quick to criticize Obama for the same thing. They both wanted the prize but she seemed to pretend that her ambitions were somehow loftier while he was just a loathsome political climber.

her career in the senate was for the sole purpose of becoming POTUS.

without that as her end-game now.... well.... its just all BORING

(think she will cry again if she doesn't get her way)

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:29 PM on 11/23/2008

and what exactly was BO's short, 2 year career in the Senate for?

Maybe it was for the sole purpose of becoming POTUS, what do you think?

OMG I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE

There's a BIG difference between 18 million votes and 18 million supporters.

If they were supporters, all they had to do was donate $1.50 each, and her debt would have been paid off. .

Some Republicans changed their party affiliation just to vote in the historical primary, but they were going to vote Republican in the G.E.

A lot of Limbaugh's supporters voted in the primary for Hillary because they didn't want Obama to be the Democratic nominee..

truth41: Here we go again. Right. "A lot of Limbaugh's supporters"

Again, where is your proof that most of those 18 million HIlary voters were Republicans.

I am still waiting for an answer from any Obama suppporter who keeps insisiting on this.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:09 AM on 11/24/2008

The proof is that they haven't helped her retire her campaign debt when a buck fifty each would accomplish that

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:30 AM on 11/24/2008

Exactly, she never had 18 million supporters. Someone is not dropping that lie and they are keeping it alive. Then why does she still owe campaign debt? Seems like her supporters did
not support her financially like we did with Obama, $ 25 at a time! However, she should have gladly accepted the position she was offered but then again, she had to take her time. What a
drama queen.

Ungrateful comes to mind. What some people would not give to HAVE a job.

Hillary is so unqualified to be Secretary of State, let alone Senator. New Yorkers should thank their lucky stars when she is given a the plum Cabinet appointment as political pay off. At least then, she the Empire State may have someone that actually cares and is competent to lead.

joebiz: Hillary is even unqualified to be a Senator now?

How low are you people going to go here?

Yeah, NY hates Hillary so much that they voted for her OVER Obama in the Dem primary.

Try again.
