STUART, Fla. — A student at a Florida school has been arrested after authorities said he was "passing gas" and turning off his classmates' computers. According to a report released Friday by the Martin County Sheriff's Office, the 13-year-old boy "continually disrupted his classroom environment" by intentionally breaking wind. He then shut off some computers other students were using.

The Spectrum Junior-Senior High School was arrested Nov. 4.

A school resource officer placed the boy under arrest after he confessed about his behavior, according to the report. He was charged with disruption of school function and released to his mother.

What would the Founding Fathers say about this ? Let's not forget that one of them i.e. a Mr. Benjamin Franklin wrote a book called " F@rt Proudly" The stupidity of the US today is unbeliveable

That southern sun and heat are melting the grey matter in the cranial vaults of the officials in that county. Wonderful message to send children. We'll have you arrested if you misbehave in any way. This is formerly known as tyranny.

I hate it that this is funny..... However, seems that the school, teacher, police have little or no problem solving skills and would like to avoid thinking and decision making so a child is arrested for 13 year old boy behavior. Way to go you adults you! Also, sadly, this is the bush era culture at its most ridiculous.

I've always thought, it isn't so much the toot as it is the cover-up.

Instead of arresting this young innovator, he should be praised for demonstrating alternative energy solutions!

Yet another pathetic example of the continuing effort to criminalize everything, at least for ordinary citizens.

Think about it:

Bush Co., inc., lies us into a phoney for profit war and occupation, illegally tortures, commits war crimes in Iraq, unlawfully spies on their own citizens, his cronies are now in the process of looting our treasury . . .

But a kid who farted in Florida is the guy who gets arrested.

Holy crap! (no pun intended).

Florida is the P-e-n-i-s of the United States. If you doubt me, just look at the map - poor Cuba.

They put him under arrest? What happened to a detention or a suspension? Is everything a criminal act now?

They arrest kindergarteners in Florida who get out of hand. It's easier than teaching I guess.

This is insane.

The police actually cuffed a 6 year old girl, and charged her with "resisting arrest."

Hope it wasn't too tough a scuffle for the cops.

hmm...i see both these kids were arrested for "disruption of a school function." who even made that a law? so interrupting a class is a crime now?

how lame.

Better out than in, I always say. At least he didn't fan it at the officer. Some guy got charged with battery for doing that. Would he have been charged if he wasn't touching other people's computers? Otherwise, I don't think it's bad to intentionally cut loose. It may be offensive, but it shouldn't be an offense.

Well, how can it be offensive and not be an offense? Just asking...
