Sanford Disses Palin

Via NewsHounds comes this clip from last night's Hannity & Colmes, in which South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford seems to scoff at the notion of Sarah Palin as a party standard bearer. After offering up Bobby Jindal, Mitch Daniels, and Rick Perry as Republican Party up-and-comers, Alan Colmes asks, "Who else would you put in that category...Sarah Palin, for example." Sanford takes a moment to chuckle at the idea of Palin as a party leader, then offhandedly offers, "Uhhh...certainly, she's among the mix." Sanford basically concludes by saying, "Yeah, seriously. Here's a bunch of other names that aren't Sarah Palin." He'll probably wake up in bed next to a pile of shredded-up turkey viscera on Thanksgiving morning.

What you didn't see is:
Colmes was about to ask why the Governor chuckled at the thought of Palin as an "up and coming" leader of the party but the producers switched it over to Hannity for a quick "I agree with you."
FOX rules!

Why do the Republicans keep their biggest talent and hope, Olympia Snow, under the covers. She would have support of many beyond the staunch Republicans.

Nothing will make the Republics looked stupider, weaker and more desperate
than putting their bets on Sarah Palin. If they were wise, they would cut all ties
with her now and start looking for someone, dare I suggest it?, intelligent.

They don't like, nor trust, intelligence.

Oh, come on. He isn't openly dissing her. This is a ludicrous stretch and beneath Huffpost, IMHO.

He was not openly dissing her, but it would be denial to say that that he wasn't caught off guard and let a bit of personal opinon show through (his was definitely an OMG! You're kidding! kinda laugh). A ludicrous stretch? Hardly. Beneath Huffpo to show an honest reaction? Nope.

I know Mark Sanford - he is a wonderful man, and he knows Palin isn't the future of the republican party and isn't afraid to say it.
Trust me.

We, the people of America love so much Gov. Sarah Palin. We are waiting for you, Sarah, in 2012.

It's refreshing to at least see some of the established GOP rejecting the Palin joke. Come on, regardless of your political affiliation, we all know Sarah is a joke. Can we just move on now, to a more serious public discourse? Please?

I have been voting since Reagan and the I have not seen a conservative Republican party yet. Bush 41 to his credit tried, but the wing-nuts through him under the bus.

World history tells us not to drive an already radical group of (pseudo)-politicians into an even more extreme corner. They will accept this as their place and isolate themselves from reality.
It is more tiresome but also the better option to - wherever possible - have a dialogue. Talk, talk, talk. To the people who still not know who S. P@lin is. 6000 year old world. Secessionism. Abuse of power. And so on.
