In another segment of their interview with Barbara Walters, the Obamas talk about their Thanksgiving plans. They are having at least 60 people, mostly family, over to their Chicago home for the holiday. Michelle Obama told Walters that she usually cooks, but isn't this year -- she gets an "out" because her husband ran for president. Watch:

I hope Michelle changes her makeup artist. She's looking scary.

You know, I'm thankful for our kids, like Malia, who think big thoughts. I bet her daddy once did.

Thank you spirits, thank you America.

My God, Obama you're getting really OLD, and really fast, i hope you'd be able to get some rest between now and January, otherwise he's not going to survive a second term, although i am not sure of that, the way i see things, he keep bringing all of the Clintonians into the White House, and i may not vote for him again... i want CHANGE, not McSAME in the White House, duh...!

DUH?!? Puhleeeeze. This man is no McSame. A team of rivals takes courage. The one thing about Obama that I like is that he is a LEADER. He is not moved by the populace voice of SELF interests.

"Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country."

The highschool that I work in had quite a bit of racial discord after the Obama victory. The way I handled it way by quoting Obama in this way:

We are not a _________(fill in the blank) America. We are not a __________(fill in the blank),
We are the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!

--The President-Elect Barack Obama

I told them to fill in the blank with any divisive division that we here in America have: Black/White; Gay/Straight; Christian/Muslim, etc....They heard that message, the message of a leader. Can you?

You can't fake that body language, it's real. I'm glad the President-elect has a genuinely loving partner in his life. She'll make the tough times ahead easier for him to bear.

Socailists too. They want to have someone else cook the food and then share it with other people some of whom may not have cooked any food.

Boy I cannot believe these comments - how many churches and other groups do potluck? Many or most and so do many large families or families in general.

Hey PSUMARKPOLO!

Maybe some of you and your Republican friends can start an "intelligent" dialogue about what "WINNING" is in Iraq -- maybe we all should. After all, your Presidents, Bush and Cheney, could NOT accomplish this feat on their watch with a house and senate full of Repubs. Oh by the way, just so you know -- or did you just come out of your hole -- this disasterous economy and high fuel cost debacle ALSO happened on their watch! I bet a lot of their crony friends have gotten rich, rich, rich off your Republican economy though.

Again ---- what Is Winning in Iraq? You challenge a man such as President Obama to PROVE something to you when your choices made such a mess of things and he's not taken office yet, please go back in your hole for a six months and let's give the man a chance.

What is refreshing at this time of year is to have a man and a beautiful woman in charge who have any affection at all, and they have so much. Love can go a long way to heal a lot -- Jesus teaches Democrats that truth -- rather than the cynicism and outright indifference to most others displayed by the current administration. Thank you, Lord, for sending them on their way -- in a big way! God Bless President Obama and Michelle and their two lovely children. May they always have your protection and wisdom and love!

And wasn't it great to see the entire Obama family spending their Thanksgiving morning handing out food to the less fortunate at a food bank, just like the Bush and Cheney families have done every year. No, wait...

Um - so let me get this straight - you are comparing someone who has done this sort of community service and outreach his entire life to two people who do it when the have too...

methinks thou doth protest too much without thought.

Even people who are not fans (or voters) for the Obama/Biden ticket have to be moved in some positive way by the humanity that this family is projecting. It looks and feels genuine to me. We need to see this. Whenever I've seen First Couples, they always seemed to be a manufactured package. With President Elect Obama and Michelle Obama, I see two real people who are together.

Not only loving each other, but strongly committed to their marriage and their family. They really project famiy values (unlike other couples who merely talk the talk but don't walk the walk). It's great to see them and their girls interacting.

Why haven't TV camera people not updated their ability to take good photos of black people without painting a ghost-like white mask on their faces.Time enough for better quality photography. Is Michelle Obama going to suffer 4 years of this. In any case she should not allow the studio hands to paint her face like a ghost.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:10 AM on 11/28/2008

It's actually the makeup person, not the camera man, and it requires a completely different set of makeup with a vast range of shades of foundation and powders as well as hours of specialized training to learn how to do makeup for the many different shades of African-American skin tones (separate pallets and training for doing makeup for Latin skin tones and yet more for Asian skin). It appears that they used the same color pallet tailored more toward the President-Elect's skin tone on the First Lady to be. You probably don't notice it as much on white people because we were raised watching mostly white people on television, but they use the same one-tone-fits all on white people as well, especially on news shows where makeup is done on the set and the artist can't bring a specialized set for each person or take the time to do a really good job. Believe it or not, not all white people have the same coloring, but you would think they do from watching the news shows. Next time you watch Hardball, Meet the Press or Olbermann, you should notice that all the guest appear to have the same coloring as the host because that is who the makeup is designed around. Ms. Obama really needs her own makeup artist, but you know the pubs would crow if that ever happened, plus I doubt she would be willing to sit still for it.

Or pay for it. Not saying that she's cheep, but I have a feeling that Michelle Obama would freak out at the cost of something like that. It just doesn't fit who she is.

Thanks for relaying that information. I think Michelle Obama looks fine the way she is. The only time I had a problem with the way she looked was when she wore that awful dress Election Night. For all those who are squaking (sp?) about her makeup and fashion choices, keep in mind she is going to have top fashion and beauty experts to assist her when she is First Lady. I bet she will look stunning for the Inauguration.

Good Question: Who are you?

And how have you shown your patriotism?

Served in the military?

Enlisted yet?

Volunteered in your community? If so, how?

Just asking..................

Well I waited and waited for Laura Bush to do something, anything,
remarkable and after 8 years.............NOTHING! A few Book Fairs
on the White House Lawn was PR so the world remembered,
she existed.

If only Laura Bush had visited our wounded soldiers once a week or
month and been hands on in helping their families.

At the start of Bush's second term, Lady Laura said she was going
to "concentrate" on helping young boys with leadership and education.
She MUST STILL be in the planning stage for this project which is why she
hasn't done a thing, yet.

So yes, not only Americans but people world wide are in love
with Michelle Obama. After 8 years of Lazy Laura, Michelle is
a loving mother and will be a great First Lady.
We are all cheering her on.

"Win the war in iraq (sic)"? Pray tell, what is winning in this context? Do we get ownership? Do the corporations get the oil? If our goal was to get rid of Saddam Hussein, well, that was accomplished. Staying and dying, that's not winning.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:40 AM on 11/28/2008

But we already "won" in Iraq years ago - didn't you see the big "Mission Accomplished" banner on the USS Abraham Lincoln as it turned away from San Diego to give the illusion that it was still way out at sea and Bush trotted around with the rolled up socks in his flight suit to give the illusion that he was virile and had just landed that plane as the pilot instead of as a passenger?

As I said above, you cannot win an occupation. We've lost 4200 @mericans and thousands more wounded because Booosh and his cronies decided that oil was more important than human life. Thousands of Iraq!s have died and thousand more wounded. Had we not been spending $5,000 a second (yeah that's want 10 billion a month comes down to) our economy would not be so far in the t0ilet, no telling how long it'll take to dig out from under the $h!t.
