I am having a very hard time comprehending the brutal murder of Naomi Scheer.

What political agenda can possibly justify shooting a small girl at point-blank range?

A sweet little girl who could not possibly comprehend why these tragically brain-washed 20-somethings shot her gentle father in the head, too? One of the most peaceful souls on Earth?

This makes absolutely no sense to me. This is a horrible, horrible nightmare for all those involved, both the victims and perpetrators. This is not how life is supposed to be.

I grieve for this child as if she were my own.

So when I try to go onto this group's website my Mcafee says the site breaches browser security and recommends I don't go on it. What;s the story with this organization?

These people were meditative and believed in peace and look what they got. What a tragedy. You just don't have words to describe feelings about this. At one point you're terribly sad and at the other enraged.

Life is cheap....it only takes a single bullet, and in an instant, a life is gone forever. I wish the madness would end, but I know it never will. As Plato said: "Only the dead have seen the end of war."

How awful this whole thing has been. My condolences to all the families afflicted by these senseless acts.

Gotta tell you, if our guys were in there, this would have been over in the first 24 hours. Why not gas them out? If I were one of the hostages, I would rather leaving choking for awhile rather than a guy in my back.
Just doesn't seem these Indian policemen or whomever are not the best trained.
I think if Obama were President, he would have sent over SWAT teams, a group of about 100 or so professionals who know what they are doing and take those terrorists out.

That's a rather racist, ignorant comment. You don't know what the situation was on the ground. Just because they're not American it doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing. If Obama was president he'd violate another country's sovereignity to send in SWAT teams against their wishes? News for you: that's called invasion.

our guys are still - eight years later - tied up in iraq. still trying to win that one. you have got be joking.

the indian airforce regularly beats the american airforce at war games. they are very well trained - easily one of the best armies in the world.

america - get off you high horse - and stay off. we've had enough. of you illicit wars and the propaganda that supports them.

What is the purpose of the Synchronicity Foundation? Is it related to religion?

It's a non-denominational, spiritual organization based on the practice of meditation and living a balanced life.

What a lovely looking man and a lovely looking girl -- father and daughter on a spiritual journey together. My heart goes out to their family who must be beside themselves with grief. My heart goes out to all the families affected by this and by all violence everywhere.

It really makes us realize how vulnerable we can be. We always think it will be someone else, but then we see someone like us with a regular life and maybe realize it could happen to anyone.

George Bush has made this happen with his horrible world politics! I wish we could transport him to the hotel.

As much as I hate George Bush, he did not create terrorism--he just helps it out. This was no doubt a Muslim group. If you would do some history reading you would understand Muslims and Hindus have been at war for decades--hence the creation of Pakistan.

All religions fight with each other. When people with blind beliefs do not agree - that's not like a science that can figure out which theory is correct. The morons are like a fuel ready to be used. In Iraq almost a million have been killed from 2003 in fights between Muslim factions (or between Muslims and our army) in the war started by our own US Christians.

condolences. people stop critizing these people for NOT living their lives in fear.

The terrorist hold the sole blame for their evilness in this case. They caused harm to people who would have extended a helping hand to them or their families in different circumstances.

As I understand, these people are from Virginia, where I happen to call home. This just brings it home to me even more. 9-11, the Beltway Snipers, The Anthrax Attacks...I choose not to live in terror, but sometimes that feeling in the pit of my stomach just gets to be too much.

I've always wanted to travel to India and still hope to someday. It is a beautiful country with so much history.

Things happen in a lot of countries. It shouldn't stop people from traveling. Traveling to other countries and seeing how other people live can be a great learning experience.

I just think it's sad thats these mongreals are so sick to attack any innocent people. It's not Bush's fault either. He didn't start 9/11, they did. To bad we cannot pick out the good ones from the bad and blow all the bad ones away!

Fifteen years ago, Samuel Huntington suggested that the world is facing a clash of civilizations (a particularly nasty class would occur between Christendom and Islam). Huntington's book kicked up a fuss and his theses have been rejected by many mainstream historians and political scientists. It's unfortunate that Huntington's writing style is obscure because this book should receive wider public exposure. We can view acts of Islamicist of terror as isolated events or we can link them to al Qaeda; either is overly simplistic and avoids Huntington's notion of civilization clash. Whether Huntington's precise thesis is right or wrong, it's hard to deny that we aren't seeing a clash between militant fundamentalist Islam and the West. While Muslims aren't the only people carrying out acts of terror, they do seem to carry out most terrorist acts, and, although most Muslims have no involvement with terrorism, I often wonder how much longer non-Islamic nations will continue to tolerate terrorism emanating from Islamic nations and society. At some point, I suspect that a line will be crossed and when that happens we may well discover literal truth in Huntington's thesis.

To some degree it depends on your definition of "terrorism" and your point of view. To many in the Mideast we (the West) are purveyors of terrorism in the guise of bringing "freedom" and "democracy". The family man whose home and family are destroyed as collateral damage of a missile strike against a terrorist he has nothing to do with views us as equally evil compared to Al Queda. Yes we do need to be more aware of different cultures, but we must also stop looking at everything through our perception and try to get an idea of how things look from another angle.

You know a lot of people in Iraq wanted Hussein gone, but resent our presence because they remember back in 1992 when the Shia rose in revolt against Saddam (as we asked them to), and because we didn't want Iran to have too great an influence in the country we let Saddam use his gunships and troops to put down the rebellion at great cost in blood. They haven't forgotten being hung out to dry, and our current intrusion which tends to stomp all over their traditions and customs isn't helping to wipe that stain away.

Bush started Iraq war, which killed far more people (100s times more) than 9/11. He, pushed forward by our Christian extremists, our military and oil contractors, - was most efficient in helping to justify any terrorism.
