Beyonce Debuts At #1

Beyonce has scored her third straight No. 1 debut on the pop album chart with the double-disc "I Am ... Sasha Fierce."

The Music World/Columbia album shifted a whopping 482,000 copies in the United States during the week ended November 23, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The set, split between material credited to R&B star Beyonce and her new alter-ego, Sasha Fierce, has already spawned the hits "If I Were a Boy" and "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." Beyonce's 2003 solo debut, "Dangerously in Love," started with 317,000, while 2006's "B-Day" moved 541,000.

Sasha Fierce Sasha sucked! That's my line, and I'm sticking to it...5 songs on the "fierce" side, and 6 on the "beyonce" side, and the Beyonce side, like the woman herself, had no personality, and thus bored me immeasurably. How can you "grow" as an artist when your dance moves are still hyper-sexualized, the songs sound the same (ie: Single Ladies is this year's Get Me Bodied), and you don't write your own material? Plus, any song that Ne-Yo didn't write sounded like a third grade haiku!

I think the dancing was added to distract from the fact the song is iffy. I do like the dancing because it's complicated. I'm also mesmerized by the fact her back doesn't go out. I can see this being a workout video but geez need to sign a waver first. OUCH my back.

It's over for Bey --- these numbers are terrible for a double CD (counted twice) and her singles are tanking; no staying power. When you base your career on sex appeal (i.e., Brittney, Bey, Janet), you don't last (Madonna doesn't put out hit CDs; she puts out fanfare). When you are talent-base (Mary J., Celine, Faith Hill), you may stick around for a while. But she does have a bank account to see her through for the rest of her days and do the business mega-star thing (Diddy, Banks, et. all).

I heard that because of her double cd that they are counting them as two. So if that is true then technically she only sold 241k. I don't know if that's true or not, but, if it is then this cd is a flop. I personally think she is to old for some of the stuff that she does. She is starting to resemble Mariah Carey when she got to old for the cut off shorts. I wish her well but I don't think these numbers tell the truth.

I'm not a fan of her music. I probably won't buy this CD. But I am extremely eager to see her new film about Cadillac Records.

I'm eager to see Jeffrey Wright play Muddy Waters. He's like the black Russel Crowe. He can vanish into any role you give him and it's time for him to get an Oscar.

Hmmm, in reading the whole article about Chart Debuts, I didn't see anything regarding uh, that other antcipated release, "Chinese Democracy" - does this mean it's a flop?

Well I knew abou the crappy reviews, I just figured Geffen went ahead and shipped a mass volume for the Chart position. Guess not. (smart move...)

The question is how long her CDs stay as #1? I brought the 2 set CD and I was disappointed. After watching her two videos and listening to her songs on the radio, I thought for sure the CD would be great too. I immediately replace her CD with Slim of 112 and Kanye West which I'm enjoying them more than hers. It's like she put them together without thinking it through. Maybe, I'll go back and listen to see if I can get a feel of her CD but right now, I'm not feeling it.

A great deal of Beyonce's success is a result of her sexy,hip grinding, butt sha king moves..she will continue to do this until her stans stop buying it. This was not what her father/manager predicted for sales so we will probably get a re-release of this album with a scratch n sniff cover or something crazy to get her to platinum status if she doesnt reach it by ends year. Im sick of B, I see no maturing with this album its different words over the same beats...she needs to take some time off and be a wife and have some kids or something.
