Daily Mail:

Winona Ryder has been accused of losing £81,000 of diamonds loaned to her for a fashion awards ceremony.

The actress, who was convicted of shoplifting in 2001, was given a diamond encrusted bracelet and ring to wear to a Marie Claire magazine party.

Miss Ryder reported the items missing after she allegedly handed them to staff at her Madrid hotel for safekeeping.

But according to the French magazine Voici, hotel management insist they have no surveillance footage showing her handing over the jewels. Executives at Bulgari, which owns the diamonds, apparently called in the police.

Winona's way to precious for her own good. That said, she might be telling the truth - and the company lending out diamond bracelets for cheap publicity deserves a hit for their greedy stupidity.

Here's a far-fetched idea, maybe she's actually telling the truth.

Poor dear

I'd love to comfort her, and teach her what her hands are really made for....

Well Winona is getting more sophisticated, a far cry from a straightforward shoplifting.

It is well known that kleptomania never goes away. But,.. it is still publicity for Bulgari. The bling-bling is worthless anyway, the diamond hunters could have paid just for a couple of Kalashnikovs and a ziploc with white power for them.

I said it once here and I'll say it again, any news on Americans (celeb or non-celeb) coming from a non-American site i.e. UK

SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED!!!

She may or may not have stolen the bracelet; bottom line is like others are saying here. Why would you loan something worth that kind of money to someone who has a past record of theft? I blame the loaner more than I do the loanee.....

Winona--Pretty eyes, big breasts, mediocre actress, once loved by Johnny Depp, emotionally unstable and a kleptomaniac.

That's pretty much it...No?

Poor thing.

I like her so much as an actress, it makes me sad to think that her past behavior automatically makes her suspect in this new possible crime.

Because she's a star and the folks that did it knew EXACTLY to whom they were lending their jewelery.

The story invoked an absurd daydream from me: "Hey, National Enquirer: Winona left her bracelet under my pillow.".

Absurd, because I don't kiss and tell.

(Ok, ok....and absurdly improbable because of ye olde "Like that would ever happen!")

I cannot believe all these remarks - no knows that she took it or if this story is even true and everyone is just assuming she did and putting a ton of negative comments out there. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty???

My question is: Why would somebody loan incredibly expensive jewelry to a convicted thief? I don't know, but that just doesn't sound all that bright to me. Seems like fake stuff would have made more sense. I'm just sayin'. . . .

Once a thief, they say...but I don't think she's quite daft enough to steal such an item; what's she gonna do with it? If it really is missing, she oughta pay for it, simple as that.
