NEW YORK — Rush Limbaugh has seldom been a fan of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. But the conservative radio pundit has given his blessing to her selection as the next secretary of state.

He calls it "a brilliant stroke" by President-elect Barack Obama, who opposed Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

Limbaugh weighs in on the new administration as one of Barbara Walters' "10 Most Fascinating People of 2008," which airs Thursday on ABC.

Says Limbaugh: "You know the old phrase, 'You keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' How can she run for president in 2012? She'd have to run against the incumbent and be critical of him _ the one who made her secretary of state."

On Monday, Obama announced Clinton as his nominee for secretary of state.

This headline is mis-leading.
You guys should be better than this. Rush is NOT endorsing the pick. It is a typical, cynical Rush comment.

If I see more of these mis-leading headlines I will quit looking at this site.

Neocons like Hillary cuz they've spent 16 years bashing the Clintons. It's really all they know, other than being obstructionists and giving tax cuts to the rich.

"How can she run for president in 2012?" Unless Obama's a presidency is a total disaster (like it would even matter after Bush), why would she split the party and run against him. In '96, the incarcerated Lyndon Larouche was the only "opposition" to Bill. I know it can happen, but Limbaugh makes it sound inevitable if she wasn't Secretary of State.

I am glad that this election turned out the way it did, it is wonderful to see change finally go in a positive direction.

Any endorsement from Limbaugh, leaves a lot to be desired, although I still do not see why Obama picked HRC for secretary state? He could have picked some one much better suited and qualified for this job. Then Bill as a senator, again where is their transparency?

Why do people keep calling Hillary a neoconservative? Last time I checked she was never for "democracy nation building". She may be more hawkish than some of the people on this site, but I haven't seen evidence that she is ideology driven and ready to export our value system by the point of a cruise missile. To me she is more of a realist, someone who deals with the world they have--and sometime force is needed in that world. Sorry to the "liberals" and "progressives" here, but we cannot have nation states and global peace. It would be nice, but so would having a 75 degree day on Christmas. Just because Obama was elected, doesn't mean the world is going to embrace Western ideals, let alone join hands and sing.

Rush has no other talent than speeking on the radio, if you want him unemployed, stop paying attention to him.

H. Clinton will be out of the country most of the time....

How much do we see of Condaleeza Rice. Most of the time it is at a meeting
in another country.

OUT OF SIGHT.....OUT OF MIND....

Anyway people, quit trying to predict future elections. We haven't even started this one yet.
Wait until Jan 21. and then watch all the scurrying and hurrying around....then you should
have a lot to comment about.
The Bush Bashers can give it a rest and start with the Obama Rama's

They are waiting for the couple who sold pardons to get back on center stage. The entire family...all the Clintons and all the Rodhams sold pardons. Remember Mark Rich, FLAN, the Hassidics, the drug lords and on and on? Well just wait till Willy boy starts selling some of that SoS influence,Leopards don't change their spots.

I love Obama and am still shocked but this laps of judgement

Rush doesn't matter anymore. Who cares? He led the charge to destroy the president that presided over the hottest economy this country's seen in years, proving what a nitwit he is. He sees life as a team sport, a dichotomy of right and wrong, left and right, liberal and conservative.

We need to let Rush, Sarah Palin, and the others fade into the woodwork. I'd like HuffPost to give them the same visibility Obama is giving the Fox tabloid reporters at the news conferences....none!

Go away, Rush. You're a loudmouth dolt deserving nobody's ear.

What's surprising about Rush's "endorsement" of Hillary is that it's news at all. Listen to him: he is expressing vintage Limbaugh spin, saying that what was "brilliant" about Obama's choice has nothing to do with Clinton's skills, her "fit" for the position, Obama's wish to unify the Democrats, the political parties, and the country. No, it's all cynical: the only reason to appoint Hillary Clinton is to de-fang her as a competitor for the candidacy in 2012. Always - ALWAYS - Limbaugh's message is that Democrats are cynical, amoral, power-hungry, wanting to make Americans more dependent on government handouts, etc. As opposed, of course, to true conservatives, who want only for Joe the Plumber to have more Freedom, more ability to Grow, Thrive, Get Rich, if only the government would get out of his way.

What happened. I thought he threw the election in her favor during the primaries?
Oh, I remember. He wanted McCain to face Hillary during the general election.

No. The Neocons always wanted Hillary to win. Been saying this since day one. They knew that even a sock puppet could beat the Republicans, so they knew they had to have a dem. They always wanted Hillary. Mostly because she's a neocon like them on foreign policy issues. They also was looking forward to beating up on her on the domestic front, but she knew that they'd back their international policies.

Now they got what they want. Hillary as SOS will mean neocon foreign policy continuation. Means more expansion, means more Iraq, and means more Palestinian suffering.

I really wasn't concerned about the pick....until now...
