Politico:

Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski has some Republican-to-Republican advice for Gov. Sarah Palin: If you want to make a run at the White House, keep your hands off my Senate seat.

Murkowski, up for reelection in 2010, is nervously awaiting word on whether John McCain's former running mate will run against her in the GOP primary. But she says Palin is the one who should be nervous.

"I can guarantee it would be a very tough election," Murkowski said in an interview.

It's not her seat. It belongs to the people of the State of Alaska. And of course, Alaskans are too smart to oust a respected and experienced senator in favor of Sarah Palin. Aren't they? Please tell me they are.

When I was in school, the best fights were the ones between two girls. They did not have gentlemen's agreements like the guys had, like not hitting or kicking below the belt; they would gouge each other, not hold any part of the anatomy off limits, and they were real doozies. This is what I see brewing if Wasilla Barbie decides to run for Murkowski's seat. She defeated her father and there's no love lost, especially when Barbie brags about knocking off the "good old boys". While I don't think this will happen, it would be a sight to see. LOL.

Cat fight! Get stuck in ladies and make the Republican party more of an embarrassment than it already is.

Wow. The long knives really are out in the Republican Party. Just how much schadenfreude am I allowed to indulge in? I just want to be sure before the show gets underway.

Sounds like a true repub to me. A sense of entitlement,(given the senate seat by her father) little awareness of things around them ( I hope palin runs against her) and a totally incomprehensible lack of grasp that running on the issues and not personality is what makes a politician who makes a difference.

I find it hard to believe anyone would seriously ever consider Sarah Palin qualified to be President.

Like Bush, if you listen to her speak she only offers bullet points, no knowledge, depth of reason or critical thinking, or ever rudimentary knowledge of the Constitution, Bill of Rights, critical Supreme Court decisions, and certainly ethics.
Unlike Bush, Palin has no family ties or associated machine to run interference.

My general feeling is that Obama will bring us through this difficult time and the voting public will realize the difference between a well run government and a government run by a boob and easily choose Obama again.

I'm all about them running Bible Spice Palin for 2012. Seriously, it's the best thing that could happen for Democrats.

Of course, we will all do everything necessary to re-elect the President but with Palin as his opponent, we could also take Summer vacations and have some fun.

With President-elect Obama's re-nomination already in the bag, I plan to switch my Party registration in the primaries so that I can vote for Sarah Palin to win the Republican nomination. If she doesn't run, I'll choose whichever one of them will be the weakest in the General and vote for that person. It never actually occurred to me to do that before Rush Limbaugh tried to use it against Democrats this year. Thanks Rush!

Didn't Obama speak with bullet points? And doesn't he stammer when he doesn't have a teleprompter in front of him? And what about knowledge of the Constitution? Obama was a professor of Constitutional Law, yet, he appoints Hillary Clinton to the position of Secretary of State....Isn't that against the Constitution?

The Emoluments Clause in Article I, Section 6 of the U.S. Constitution provides: “No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased during such time.” On January 4, 2008, President Bush issued Executive Order 13454, which increased the “Emoluments” (salary) of the secretary of state position. Hillary Clinton, as an elected senator from New York at the time and with a current term of office that runs through the end of 2010, would seem to fall clearly within the definition of a “senator” under this clause.

She then followed with the comment:

"Because, Madame Governor, not only are you a false idol of the future of the Republican Party, but you don't understand that this Senate seat belongs to the Murkowski family."

It would especially be funny if they hacked each other to the point where a Democrat could sneak in after the primary.

Lisa is smart has a very good staff and is liked by both Democrats and Republicans in Alaska . She should easily beat any Democratic challenger.
But many in the Republicans base don't like her because she is a moderate and worse, pro choice.
So Palin could take her seat away but not without a fight, because while Lisa small in statue she packs a punch.
