A maker of over-the-counter cold and flu remedies released a program this week for the T-Mobile G1, also known as the "Google phone," that warns the user how many people in an area are sneezing and shaking with winter viruses.

If they could just develop a program that would make people cover their mouths when they cough and sneeze and maybe wash their hands once in a while, we wouldn't need our cell phones to alert us about the flu hot spots. When the "big one" comes (something similar to the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918) we're all doomed because people don't follow even the most basic infection control practices anymore. I swear the next cashier who touches everything I'm buying after blowing their dripping nose is going to get hit with a bottle of Germ-X. (Happened to me at the store tonight.)
