Brian Williams appeared on Thursday night's Tonight Show with Jay Leno and played ignorant about the "Meet the Press" succession selection.

Leno: Now, I got to ask you, the speculation that David Gregory will be the new moderator on "Meet the Press," what do you think? What have you heard? You're the top guy. You're the top dog. You make the decisions. What do you think?

Williams: On the lives of my wife and two children, I have no idea. I've read the same...

Leno: Really?

Williams: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And, you know what? I work for smart people, and that's probably the way it should be. They're hearing my advice and they're hearing Tom Brokaw's advice. And we're almost too close to it.

Leno: Now, who do you think? Do you have a choice?

Williams: My, look at the time...

I just saw the show and I guess MSNBC could care less what the viewers think and who we would like to replace Tim.I was hoping for Gwen or Chuck Todd.

Hire somebody with some snap! Rachel Maddow, please. Her only shortcoming is that she is not an ethnic minority. Or maybe she'd be better in President Obama's cabinet. (I don't bother with the'president elect' business anylonger -- as far as I'm concerned, we, the collective people, have not had a president since January 2001. The neocons have -- not the rest of us).

Why not make it a show with co-anchors? Perhaps Joe Scarborough and Rachel Maddow. This way there would be two opposing views.

Why not get someone of color to get a difference prospective. DG, in my opinion did not cover the White House well. I realize it's the same script but let's get a different cast.

The only two that would be worse than D.G would be C.Mathews or B.Orielly the two worse talking heads on t.v. C.Todd with special guest on occassion R.Maddow or vice-verse,with a new president and new first lady and new women in the congress it's time to change the format of the program it will never be like it was with Tim so lets change it all.I think Rachel would do a great job, very smart and very versed in politics, and would be very respected.

I am an avid fan of MSNBC, except for Joe Scarborough and David Gregory. I think it would be a travesty if David Gregory became the host of Meet the Press. He stumbles through verbalizing his thoughts, he is clearly biased to the right and against the left, and he is quite annoying. I sincerely doubt he has the ability to be objective, as I have watched him many times on the "Race to the White House" which was his show on MSNBC. He simply was not objective. He was a terrible host on that show, and I really don't see how he would do any better on Meet the Press. Tim Russert must be rolling over in his grave at the thought of David Gregory hosting that show!

The first guest Gregory will have will be his dancing partner and BFF, Karl Rove.

I agree that Chuck Todd or Gwen Ifl would be great choices. Another great choice would be Brian Lamb the moderator on CSPAN. All three to me anyway seem incredibly non-biased and allow their guests the opportunity to speak and answer questions. Charlie Rose would also do well I think.

I agree on all but the last one. He can be quite thick, though constantly charming.
