Wall Street Journal:

To drive through the suburbs of Northern Virginia is to marvel still at the widespread wealth, the mansions and mini-mansions that did not exist a quarter-century ago and that now thicken the woods and hills. It used to be sleepy here; it used to be horse farms. I remember looking at one of the new houses 22 years ago. As I explored the heavy, sprawling concrete basement, the agent said, "We think this would take a 40-megaton bomb." She meant it as a serious selling point. We were near Langley.

The other night, the big houses were strung with glittering white Christmas lights--not all different colors, as we do in other suburbs, but stately white--and from the Georgetown Pike, heading toward Great Falls, we saw a house with a big glass-walled living room that faced the street, and below it a glass-walled entrance room, and each had its own brightly decorated tree. "Two Christmas trees," murmured a companion, and it captured the air of prosperity and solid well-being of the area.

Good Morning Sen. Leahy, 4:20AM

This is the 3rd E-mail I've sent you regarding this matter that encompasses a slew of criminal activity that evolved around the link provided below:

http://www.fbi.gov/page2/may04/bolo052604.htm

Top middle = Aafia Siddiqui - captured on 5/29/2004 at or about 6:05 pm in St. Lucie,Co. Florida by members of the Sheriff Dept. as a result of my 911 call made at 5:40 pm & the 911 call concluded around 6 pm...

Bottom left = Fazul Abdullah Mohammed - same as above...

The worst part is F.A.M. was held in U.S. custody for about 30+ months before being released & dumped in Somalia 1/2007

Bottom right = Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani - was also captured in Florida on or about 7/??/2004 & he was flown to Pakistan for Pakistan to say that they found him...

Unfortunately Ms. Noonan hasn't got a clue about "safety". She like so many others is looking at the present and saying "gee we haven't been attacked since 911, isn't Bush great" when in reality what started as a small group of evil doers (originally funded by the CIA) has due to Bush's "war on Terror" morphed into a virtual army of hate filled extremists just literally dying to kill Americans, as many and as often as possible. The worst is yet to come from these evil creations of Bush's egregious foreign policy blunders. All this could have been prevented if Bush had negotiated with the Taliban for the extradition of Osama bin Laden and provided them with the evidence they had requested in order to give them the cover they needed to capture and extradite him. But no Bush had to flex the oh so mighty muscle that he as commander in chief wields over the world. The result of that stupidity is all around us today and the next round of horror when it hits won't even be brought o Bush's doorstep where it belongs because American's memories are tuned to the length of TV commercials and they will blame problems created years ago on the party in charge when they finally surface to rend and destroy, and they will.

What this country needs is something to keep us safe from George W. Bush and all of his followers.

She's missing 2 key points:

1. She insists Bush kept us safe after 9.11.01. Tell that to the 5 people who died of anthrax poisoning in late 2001. If you don't remeber anthrax was sent to Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Tom Daschle (D-SD), ABC News, CBS News, NBC News and the New York Post and the National Enquirer.

2. Bush didn't keep us safe ON 9.11.01. How disingenuous of those on the right to suggest Dubya became President on 9.12.01?

It took Al Queda five years to plan 9/11. Where was Clinton on that one?

I am tired of this canard. Even before we had a DHS or a Patriot Act, it took al Quada eight years to re-load from the 1993 WTC bombing until 9/11. Six years if you count the foiled millenium LAX bombing intercepted by Clinton's border patrol. Had Bush done nothing extra, we would likely have been just as safe these past seven years. It's too soon to render a verdict on Bush's safety net.

Now thats a rewrite of history...Kept us safe? I seem to remember September 11, 2001 was on his watch...Hmmm i also rememer a major city left to drown and fall into chaos....hmmm i think putting over 4,000 of our young people (the best and the brightest as they always say) in harms way and later losing their lives....And what about all of the injured physically and mentally scarred forever....NO he did not keep us safe!!! He put and continues to put us all in jeopardy...Get a grip on reality...More young people were killed in Iraq than on 9/11 so i would not call that keeping us safe!!! He actually shipped american teenagers to a hostile environment making it easier for terrorists to harm our brave youth.

Peggy is busy creeping back into her comfort zone, the traditional bosom of the right-wing paymasters after some slippage during the campaign. You know on open mike denigrating Palin at the GOP convention and trying to create an image as a more "free thinking" right-winger. Sorry to say after all these years she's learned nothing except that her paycheck comes from the anti Democratic Party hate machine.

Please, pray tell, explain the justification for the title of this article. PG di not throw down a challenge to PE Obama. She simply put forth several fact based observations. How's that a challenge to the PE? What's the matter, have we entered silly season as HuffPo?

Fact - 911 was on bush's watch
Fact - Amerithrax was on bush's watch
Fact - Both of the attacks have not been prosecuted in a court and no concrete evidence has been brought forth against OBL or the dead guy they "pinned" the amerithrax case on. Check the FBI website and see if 911 is listed under OBL and search the intertubes to see the "evidence that lead to closing the amerithrax case and the attempts to bribe his family. I have successfully kept my family safe from the lock ness monster, I don't think that's a big accomplishment.

Clearly, Peggie suffered from heavy martini consumption at this Northern Virginia Gala. However, this seems to be turning out to be the battle cry of the soon to be defunct Bush administration as I have just observed Republican pundits on MSNBC spewing the same garbage.

Ask the Family who had a Home that's now in foreclosure; a Job that's now on the unemployment roles; the kid that had to drop out of college; the family member with an illness they cannot seek medical treatment to help, ASK THEM IF THEY'RE SAFE. No, they are not safe from a mental break-down or other emotional traumas you experience when you lose everything you ever worked for! If being safe means we send all our children to THEM to be killed versus THEM coming to our Country, that is not what I call safe. Safe means more than her decription of it.

If all he could do for me was keep me from being bombed but caused me to lose my life savings, my job, my health and my sanity...I would like the option of giving my opinion of what means more to me next time the decisions are made to keep me Safe!

so you believe the government should protect you from any and all potential forms of harm? The government has to ensure you have not just a home but a house, keep you employed, keep your kid in school and provide you with medical treatment? Is there anything else your majesty?

No, the governments job is to make sure reckless bankers get all that at our expense. I'm not sure how we are more safe when all statistics show this admin's reckless foreign policy has increased the number of "terrists" exponentially.

So to you, the government is just an extension of the US Military? That's pretty lame.

Bush was the President of the United States. Yes - that means safeguarding the citizens from harm beyond foreign attacks. Yes that means protecting the interests and well-being of everyone that lives here, including jobs, education, illness.

But Bush clearly did not want that job which was just as well - as he wasn't qualified to do it.

It is laughable that Peggy Noonan and other Republicans would make this comment. The fact that we have not had another terrorist attack has nothing to do with the job that G.W. Bush has done. As far as I am concerned, we did have a terrorist attack and it was called Hurricane Katrina... not the hurricane but the terrorist way that it was handled...by a group of terrorist.
The primary reason for not having another attack...yet, is because history has proven that Al-Queda and other recognized terrorist groups are patient and calculating, thus this lull that we have is very understandable. Ben-Laden made it clear that he would destroy this country and when we look at the facts, he has, just not thru attacks or militarily. He has caused us to 1.Lose many of our liberties 2.Showing us just inept our outgoing leadership has been 3. Bankrupt us to our current condition by fighting a war that we never should have been fighting and spending money that could have been used at home4. being spied on by our own government 4.Loss of our moral compass and respect throughout the world 5. Depletion of our military to a point that we would be hard pressed to defend ourselves against another major attack and among others, split this nation strictly along party lines.
I would summarize that the terrorist have accomplished much of their goals.

The fundamental problem is the Bush administration has made this country much less safe over the last 7 years. It's specious to argue that because the continental US hasn't been attached in the last 7 years, that the Bush Administration had any part in that.

Bush kept us safe?

She's probably talking about "after" 9/11, which I must point out happened on Bush's watch.
