Publishers Jumping At Obama Campaign Manager Book

More than 18 publishers have expressed interest in a book that former Obama campaign manager David Plouffe is writing in an unusual dual appeal to political and business audiences.

Obama wrote "The Audacity of Hope," and Plouffe's book is tentatively titled "The Audacity to Win."

From what I've gleamed the Obama campaign was a TEAM effort. The tone was set by Mr. Obama and the details carried out by some of the most gifted and compentent people (of like minds) in the USA. For months on end Mr. Plouffe quitely and methodically carried out his assigned tasks without fanfare, etc. Bravo to the entire Obama team and may this and every other Obama team member book go to #1 on the best seller list.

Plouff is most definitely one of the Brightest Stars to emerge from this Election.

Good for David. I doubt if the book will be more than inspiring rhetoric. He's waaay too smart to give away true strategy. Even if he does I think we all know when it comes down to what won this election--it was the candidate; stupid.

I am disappointed that he is writing this book already. I would prefer him to wait until President-elect Obama is reelected in four years implementing the methods the campaign used along with some new ideas. I think this is a very, very bad idea.

hmm....there will be THOUSANDS of books written on BHO. He has a long career ahead of him. That means that the books that were written after he won his U.S. Senate Seat are "to be continued" books anyway. I think you're getting carried away with the "bad idea" comments. I for one cannot wait to read it.

You can be assured that Plouffe will be back in four years and that he's not one to rest on previous success. His next book, "The Audacity of Winners," will focus on the expanded 60+ seat Senate that will be ushered in by 2012, if not 2010.

Everyone talks about Rove's brilliance, but Plouffe will hopefully push Rove to just a footnote in history. Much of Rove's campaign style was about an appeal to a singular core of voters and thrived on divisive issues to pit sides against each other and demonize otherwise hospitable neighbors. Plouffe and the rest of Obama's campaign team have run the first real campaign of the 21st century, not in terms of timing, but in terms of paradigmatic shifts in the use of technology, revised grassroots, and fundraising capacity. With this past election, Rove's "72-hour strategy" has been relegated to the strategic relevance of the Maginot Line.

A very quick way to ascertain just how good Plouffe and the team performed is to listen to Rove try to spin how average the campaign was and how there wasn't anything unique or interesting about it. Me thinks he doth protest too loudly.
