They will perform live during the ABC broadcast, joining Clark in New York along with his co-host Ryan Seacrest, the network announced.

Kellie Pickler also will be on hand in Times Square with live reports on the festivities.

As previously announced, Natasha Bedingfield, Fall Out Boy, Jesse McCartney, Ne-Yo, Pussycat Dolls, Solange and Robin Thicke will perform during the Hollywood Party segments, which will be hosted by Fergie.

Anybody remember New Year's Eve 1988-'89, when David Peel (who recorded "Have A Marijuana", produced by his friend, John Lennon) and I "staged" a David Peel New Year's Eve music performance as part of the Times Square crowd at 49th Street (7 blocks up from Times Square)? I didn't think so.

Rockin' New Year's Eve: Pubescent exploitation and celebrity pandering masquerading as a annual celebratory ritual.

Do people know that the Hollywood party segment is taped weeks in advance, the revelers are paid (mostly college students), and the New Year cheering and kissing "celebration" is totally FAKE? The taped bits are spliced into the live countdown from Times Square.

I'm not an amateur drinker, think anything but the last number of the date will change from the 31st to the 1st and can no longer fake enthusiasm nor feel compelled to scream and yell because it's midnight. So, I'll be staying home away from the drunks and the artificial mayhem.

I really liked the perpetual teenager Dick Clark but he never came back. I guess he never recovered from his stroke? He gave minorities chances on his show ABS, when others wouldn't.

Dick has been on the last three years of new year's rockin' eve. He is able to speak somewhat, but we don't see him walking. He looks good for his age. He recovered much better than most people though he would. He also has type II diabetes. But he and his wife are on new year's rockin' eve, ryan is there to assist. I have watched it every year since it started.
