Emma Watson: I'd Go Naked

Emma "Hermione" Watson sat down with The Times and told them she's okay to bare all in the name of her craft.

The 18-year-old Chanel model and "Harry Potter" star talked about making the transition from child star to grown-up actress.

"I'm at a strange age... I'm not a woman yet, but I'm not a girl any more. [Film companies] say, 'Oh, in a couple of years you'll be perfect for this.' I'll be like, yeah, but I want to be studying English then, so it's going to be quite tough to choose between the two...

"I have enough to hold me together without fame," she says. "I have a really supportive family and a full life away from Harry Potter. It's unlikely that I'll be part of anything this big ever again, so I need to deal with that. I'm not going to take a job just because, shit, I'm not doing anything else." She still loves acting, naturally -- she would even, steady chaps, go nude. "Yes," she says. "For Bernardo Bertolucci. It . . . depends. I'm not getting my kit off any time soon, but it is part of my job."

Costar Daniel Radcliffe is currently baring all in Equus on Broadway.

She's a lovely girl but as someone mentioned what's with the leering photo shots, is that for future considerations? As for posing naked. How many mainstream actresses have actually done that? I can't think of one, however most of them will submit to a kind of soft porn that passes for journalism witness the continuous exposure of the scantily clad Jennifer Aniston on a kazillion magazine covers.

You would have a harder time trying to think of an actress that hasn't gone naked. Kind of sad, seems you must disrobe to get ahead in the entertainment business.

I think you are reading this differently to how I read it. I think she meant that she'd be willing to do a nude scene in a movie, not that she's ready to pose in Playboy.

Americans need to grow up. Who cares? She's talking about doing a nude scene as a character in a film if appropriate. The fact that all too many Americans equate nudity with sex says more about the immaturity of some Americans than anything else.
