Andrea Tantaros Wrecks Herself On

Does Andrea Tantaros hate her country? I stop short of that assessment, made by the folks at NewsHounds -- from whence this operatically nonsensical video, pulled from last night's Hannity and Colmes, comes. I think that "her country" has moved on and whatever "country matters" she speaks of now apply to some vaguely remembered place, long long ago, when America was six months past the last moment they remember being bored out of their skull by the Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

Tantaros comes at her segment like an aggrieved chrononaut, determined to spew forth a stinky modicum of baby spit-up on an America that has moved on without her. "Well, we're never gonna stop talking about how bad your party is, Alan," she says, "'cause it's true." Hey, fair enough! But really, who has time anymore for "analysis" like this: "The problem was, that when the stock market was crashing, people didn't care about Rev. Wright." Uhm, Andrea, darling, the whole Reverend Wright story had wheezed its last back in May. After that, the only people who talked about Jeremiah Wright were the media and silly political consultants who thought John McCain should drive up awareness of a topic everyone was aware of and not interested in anymore.

The rest of the show is all Tantaros laying claim to false zings and gratuitous insults to mask her inability to talk substantively about the auto bailout. Honestly, the GOP needs to relegate her to some back channel obscurity if they want to rebuild their brand. Right now, the rule on the Democratic side is probably, "Never interrupt your opponent when they are being Andrea Tantaros."
