First Virtual World For Muslims Debuts

A trial version of the first virtual world aimed at the Muslim community has been launched.

Called Muxlim Pal, it allows Muslims to look after a cartoon avatar that inhabits the virtual world.

Based loosely on other virtual worlds such as The Sims, Muxlim Pal lets members customise the look of their avatar and its private room.

Aimed at Muslims in Western nations, Muxlim Pal's creators hope it will also foster understanding among non-Muslims.

I think a small amount of people on here are being immature. Attacking that which they do not understand. I don't know much about Islam myself, and I admit that. But one thing I am, is an open-minded person. I've been raised to always look for the good in things whenever possible, and to always see all sides of an issue in order to see how all people feel. It's selfish to only see things the way I feel.

If we are to truely be a melting pot of the world, then we must live up to that expectation. We should accept, even warmly welcome, those who are different.

And I will say this, I went there and signed up for access not to start trouble. But because I enjoy the #1 thing about the internet that I find so fascinating, the ability to communite with anyone of any background and not hate each other. To have that cultural exchange. I've talked to people alot in many parts of the world. And I always came away from those experiences feeling a little better about the world. That despite our differences, we can talk and enlighten each other, learn about ourselves, how we live, work and play. In alot of instances, they are no different than us. We are all more alike than we think, or even want to admit. And we should seize on that as a way to promote peace and goodwill towards all of mankind.

Yeah. You know actually, there is a chance a number of people who might otherwise have no contact with the Muslim world would have a way to converse, ask questions and dispel some of the myths we are bombarded with by the ultra-conservative talking heads and shock jocks in the US. Trust me, nothing is more rewarding than going out and seeking the truth for yourself.

There are 1.8 billion M.uslims in the world. That's about 25% of the world's population. By no means are the majority of these people vi.olent or funda.ment­alists. They have a value system different than ours. The vast majority are kind, caring warm people.

Where are the fatwas against Islamists who kill other Muslims?

Where are the street demonstrations that went on over the world about a few cartoons - against Jihad and bombing and murder of innocent people in Mumbai or Thailand or Philippines?

Where's the Islamic media outrage regarding honor killings, homophobia and sexism that's all over the islamic world.

Until the great number of Muslims speak out against the Islamists amongst them, they are pretty much just as guilty don't you think?
