I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Everybody's been reading over the obscenity-strewn transcribed conversations of Rod Blagojevich and realizing that he's the most profane, David Mamet-like politician since Tom Tancredo bellowed, "This hurts me? Hurt me like this all day long. Hurt me. Hurt me. That kind of shit doesn't hurt me." So to drive the point home in a funny way, here's a clip from the Rachel Maddow Show professing to be an Enhanced History Re-Enactment Event, that features strings of Blago blather shouted aloud by people attempting the sort of Chicagoland dialect that was best left for Mike Royko's "Slats Grobnik" to voice. Anyway, LOTS OF SWEARING. And, over time, the dialect sort of migrates, settling into something of a "Sarah Palin." Make of that what you will!

Love your show Rachel, I didn't think the blago accent piece was that funny. It was kinda dorky - but then again, you are the sweetest dork on tv.

Rachael, I love you to death. But what I appreciate most is your honesty and intelligence. This country is in desperate need of adult leadership and you can do your part on the tee vee and radio. Some satire and humor fine, but I personally don't like the silly stuff.
Just my opinion, for what it's worth . . .

A humorous verbatim recitation of an actual conversation is hardly in the category of "trials and convictions."

holy crapo this is straight out of the wire. Awesome. I'd say too bad he is a democrat but in truth I think all politicians have a tremendous propensity for evil (something to do with their being human I think ...)

The enhanced Chicago accent sounds as if it were done by a native of the Bronx. Residents of the 5 boros have problems saying 'r'. Rachel is pushing the margin of error in the dramatic rereading of Ron's words. Actors who do an NYC accent are available in great number & work cheap. MSNBC & Rachel need to audition a few character actors.

I don't think Maddow is the botox type. She'd never do anything that vain or ridiculously shallow. Botulism injected in her face? Please...

Luv you Rache...but please leave the comedy/satire stuff to the masters...Stewart and Colbert. This attempt was beyond what you do best. Not funny and not worth another attempt.

Made me laugh. I thought they got the accent pretty good, you know what I'm sayin? And I'm, uh, from Chicago, you know? Hearing it like that actually made it a bit more real, too. That is the non-funny part, not Rachel's stuff.

Yeah, I agree. Most good comedians are smart and well informed but not all smart and well informed people are comedians. Rachael Maddow is best when she's using her sharp intellect to get to the pertinent points of the days events, which she is now doing better than most of the veteran talking heads. She might be too nice a person to use sarcastic humor effectively, and that's not such a bad thing...

Part of Doctor Maddow's appeal when she does satire is that she's not an actor or comedian, so when she does humor it's like hearing a great joke from the smartest, coolest friend you could ever hope for. Stewart and Colbert are the opposite: polished professional comic actors charmingly doubling as amateur (and in Colbert's case, self-satirizing) political pundits.

Rachel Maddow is effing adorable.
She has perfect skin.
She looks like she's just really having fun.
Blago is just unbelievably stupid.

If they recorded ALL of the Governors, Congress, and Presidents they would ALL get arrested. My question is why did the FBI listen on Blagojevich NOW ? Who issued the warrant & why ?

This is icing on the blago investigation cake.

As a Chicagoan who keeps up with this stuff, I can answer that. The investigation started two years ago at the instigation of the Chicago Tribune. For years and years, John Kass has written about the Chicago Combine--a political machine that plays on both sides with Dems and Republicans involved in a 'pay-to-play' scheme to parcel out Illinois work contracts from road building to real estate deals (enter Tony Rezko), to which communities get the coveted casino contract--once involving the Mob. George Ryan was indicted two years ago and Blago was being watched closely. Thirteen people have already been indicted or convicted so far in this investigation. Blago was identified in an indictment in July as Official A when Rezko and others made deals to turn state's evidence. One known liar testified that even Karl Rove was involved in the Combine and there were plans to remove Fitzgerald in the dump of the U.S. attorneys--but they chickened out at the last minute. Fitzgerald is one of the few U.S. attorneys who has won against the Combine. The timing was now to stop Blago from going further and committing another crime by selling the Senate seat, to save the public.
