Carrie Fisher appeared on Today to promote her new memoir "Wishful Drinking," which reveals some of the demons she battled in life, including drugs and depression.

Fisher was hilarious, talking about how she regrets doing "Star Wars," how her husband left her for a man, and loads of anecdotes about her parents, Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher. Her mom even had had Cary Grant call Carrie when she started using drugs.

As a member of the Star Wars generation, I had a major crush on Carrie Fisher when I was younger. I was taken aback in the last decade(s) to see how she how much she's changed.

Seeing this interview, I realize that even through she's aged, her interesting, feisty self is still there. It's what I really fell in "love" with back then.

I think I like her better this way. Or maybe I've grown up, too.

I think she is hilarious and honest. You have to laugh or you'd spend all your time crying. Which reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from Postcards... Cry now, you'll pee less later.

Love you Darling!

She reminds me so much of my own mother. And her points about surviving trials in life due to her sense of humor being able to sort of neutralize the internal turmoil is absolutely correct. Once you realize that you are, can be and will be your own worst enemy in turbulent times, you also realize that your sense of self and your sense of humor can be your savior. Carrie Fisher is a truly independent person. She's been to the abyss, BY HERSELF and returned scarred, aged and wiser for the here and now.

You people talking about her vanity don't surprise me. America is chock full of people who don't have the first clue about what's important in life. The world for that matter, but, especially contemporary America. I'll say a little prayer for you people.

I am a citizen of the world and

right now I am mad at myself. We love just watching naked women or men. Human right is abused all over the world and we stay mute.

Universal declaration of human right. Is it true???????

Please watch and share the video below.

Reclaim that declaration now.

Thanks.

It's a Hollywood illusion. When we think of Carrie Fisher, the image which comes to mind is of the beautiful and vibrant Princess Leah. That was, like, 30 years ago. Princesses don't age. Humans do. Some comments here observe how shallow many of us are to be jolted by the real Carrie Fisher in 2008. Some point out that she is genuine, and urge us to listen to her message. Maybe it's just as well that she reminds us that fiction is -- well, fiction. And reality looks more like -- well, Carrie Fisher in 2008. I wish her the best.

My God, she's younger than me, looks old enough to be my mother. She just made me throw a good bottle of Cabernet in the garbage.

Lots of folks here joking about a serious condition that may involve a "size' issue (of male p.enises) in our society. Hopefully, when we all enjoy the fruits of universal health care, this issue will be resolved for our citizens that have a right to a large p.enis.

Postcards from the Edge both film and book were excellent. One of my favorite Carrie Fisher lines, when speaking of her father's affair with Elizabeth Taylor while he was married to her mother ...Elizabeth had just lost her husband ... "My father comforted Elizabeth with his p****."

Good for Carrie Fisher! Thank goodness there is at least one celebrity who doesn't lie about her life, and who doesn't try to sign all of us up for a 12-step program that we're all guaranteed to fail eventually.

As long as Carrie Fisher keeps telling the truth with this much humor, I will keep listening and laughing. She made the Today show CREW laugh. That is real wit, Mort. Jabba jokes are OLD.
