Kate Walsh's Husband Files For Divorce

LOS ANGELES — "Private Practice" star Kate Walsh is getting divorced after a year of marriage.

The actress' husband, Alex M. Young, filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Tuesday. His petition cites "irreconcilable differences" but offers no further details.

The pair married September 2007, and the documents say they separated Nov. 22.

The couple have no children together.

The 41-year-old actress is the star of the "Grey's Anatomy" spin-off "Private Practice" on ABC. Young is a top-ranking executive at 20th Century Fox.

The pair released a joint statement through the publicists saying the split was amicable and that Walsh and Young remain friends.

The breakup was first reported on a Web site for "The Insider" TV show.

I wish her nothing but success. She was one of the few folks on "Grey's Anatomy" who carried herself with grace off the set. Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight could both learn a thing or two from this woman.

Who knows why her marriage didn't last. I wish her and her soon-to-be-ex-hubby nothing but the best as they work everything out.

She had a very long and successful modeling career. Check out her bio. For some reason she was a big deal in Japan and was in ads and shows constantly, like Cindy Crawford used to be here.

She is on my list of top 10 most beautiful Hollywood women.

If KW is very big model in Japan how come this is never mentioned in bios of her?
All the bios say that GA/PP is her breakthrough.

I just researched. She was a model in the 80s in Japan. I didnt read that she was a well known/big as Cindy Crawford. Japan was amazed by her body apparently. She was 13-20 in the 80s so of course her body was nice /in shape.

Still she shoulda dated longer.

As for the length of her relationship prior to her marriage, it may have been short, but not days... it was a little over a year. Long enough or not, who are you to judge?

I don.t believe one has to be in a long relationship before one gets married. What for?
I should say, though, that my parents married three months after they met, and are now married for 37 years. They are a good example for me, and inspire me to really be clear and open to myself and him about who I am and how I want to be and develop in a relationship, and find out if my and his visions go together well.
Of course, one can.t foresee everything that comes up in a relationship but I always think that to swear to love and stand by each other in good times and in bad times is a strong and beautiful committment.

Nowadays ppl NEED to date for a long time & get to know 1 another.
They need 2 be clear with 1 another about their life goals, about kids, about where they want to live. Instead ppl meet on a Monday, get drunk & have sex on Monday night; & marry on Wednesday just based off sex. Sex wont sustain a marriage.

How many times do we here of divorces
- bc 1 wanted kids but the other didnt ( 45yr old Jay Faires wants kids while 34yr old Deb Maten doesnt citing she is still young, so he filed 4 div; they been married since July 03 & Deb says she was totally blindsighted. Come on, Im sure during the past 5 yrs he has said that he wants to have kids);
-bc of where they wanted to live ( Ivanka wanted 2 live in NY but Rossano Rubicondi wanted 2 live in Italy)
bc of life goals ( so many couples have the lady surpass the man which makes the man angry, like Reese/Ryan).

I do believe 1 has 2 be in a relationship longer than 5 months. Especially hollywood ppl, actually all ppl.

Even JenG/Ben Affleck. They got married bc Jen got prenant. Now its 3 yrs later & she is due w their 2nd kid any day. So far it seems 2 be working, I hope it lasts. They both from the east coast so hopefuly there normal upbringings will keep them grounded and committed

When she married just before her new series Private Practice was due to start, I knew this was a Hollywood arranged marriage. I have no idea why, maybe the ABC suits couldn't deal with a single star in her late 30's as the star of their new series. Maybe there were gay rumours...­of course woman not married in her late 30's *must* be a lesbian. (How about George Clooney's revolving moddle gfs and never marrying, and he's 45? Same goes for Leo DiCaprio)

Its not about money, he's an exec in Hollywood. I just think the contract's over :) And Private Practice is doing....O­K.

I like Kate Walsh. Hope she can just live her life, without any spin. She has charisma. PP is OK, but her character Addison was better on Grey's.
