Illinois Deputy Governor Louanner Peters has been identified as "Senate Candidate 4" in the criminal complaint filed against Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

An unidentified source familiar with the complaint revealed the information to The Associated Press on Thursday. The source was not authorized to speak publicly about the complaint and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

In the complaint, Blagojevich said he would put Candidate 4 in Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat instead of another candidate, if the governor did not get anything in return.

The complaint identified Senate Candidate 4 only as a "deputy governor."

Peters was named deputy governor in December 2006. She was previously Blagojevich's deputy chief of staff for social services and deputy campaign manager.

She did not immediately return a call for comment to the AP.

By the way, as an aside, what is with Blago's hair helmet?

Let's remember what Patrick Fitzgerald (justice department) said when this story first broke - it should not be assumed that every one spoken of in Blago's conversation is guilty of or will be charge with any crime.

I never heard of this woman either. LOL....

This is getting ridiculous. I'm from Chi-town and I haven't heard anything about this woman. That said, I certainly wouldn't trust the media, Chicago PD or the FBI. They all suck!

I don't really understand the media suspense in withholding the names. If you read the recording transcripts on the smoking gun Blagojevich was just spouting out candidates that he thought he could make money from.

let the witch-hunt continue still.

Oh, so selling a Senate seat is A-OK in your book? This is hardly a witchhunt. The FBI is locating the players involved. Whether or not they did anything criminal remains to be seen.

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If your name was put out there and you did nothing wrong, would you be making that statement? Besides, this is from an anonymous source, not the FBI. I don't think the FBI would be releasing information on a person unless they had a credible case. Even then, it would be foolish to do so -- because any defense attorney can use any statements made on behalf of the FBI or people represented by the Attorney General to build their defense.

I'm from Illinois, not an insider but pretty darned familiar with politics here. All I can say is, "Who?"
This looks like the ultimate, "I'll put me or my woefully unqualified puppet in the chair if you don't pay up" gambit. Sick. I'm leaning more and more toward thinking that a bipolar disorder or another mental illness may be playing a role. This guy avoided knowledgeable people like the plague unless separated by a podium, microphone, and prepared remarks for the last several years. He often worked out of his house. It's all very atypical behavior. There is a lot here that defies logic and recognition of potential consequences of one's actions.

Thanks for the information. Keep it coming.
