What's Your Reaction?
Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler really did say goodbye to "Saturday Night Live" on Saturday, less than two months after giving birth to son Archie and several more months after signing a deal for a new "Office"-spinoff on NBC.

She initially told interviewers while pregnant that she would not return at all following her maternity leave, but a week ago she returned to play Hillary Clinton and take her place at the Weekend Update desk.

This Saturday she took the chance to say she was leaving, at least as a cast member, "I just wanted to thank everybody, this is my last show. It has been an amazing experience to be here." Being Poehler, the sadness was cut with a little humor, in the form of Fred Armisen's David Patterson impression, who had just appeared in an earlier sketch.

Poehler's last words from the Update chair were, "I love you, and I will miss all of you so much."

Good bye Amy Poehler. You sucked as a comedienne. Go find yourself something that you were more suited for. Anyone know when the next postal exam takes place?

Low class humor....

Making fun of the legally blind Governor David Patterson of New York.

Must be running out of material....because most of it is trying to humiliate somebody who
is not there to defend themself. Now that they finally gave up on S. Palin, they are trying
to find someone else to make fun of.

I'm amused by people who declare that SNL is not funny...or hasn't been funny since the 70's....as "a fact"..that no one can deny.

I must be the fool...because I laugh at about 50% of their skits...and sometimes (i'm embarrassed to admit)..I laugh very hard.

You gotta love folks who ridicule your sense of humor as if they are the arbiters of "humor."

Elite snobs.

Just have to say to those that think that ONLY the "original prime time players" cast were worth watching...you haven't been paying attention.

Al Franken, Eddie Murphy, Joe Piscopo, Billy Crystal, Martin Short, Nora Dunn, Jon Lovitz, A. Whitney Brown, Dennis Miller, Victoria Jackson, Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Mike Myers, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, David Spade, Tim Meadows, Norm McDonald, Jim Breur, Colin Quinn...and those are just the ones that I can think of off the cuff. Some really funny people in that list.

Not everything by everyone can be funny to everybody, but hey...c'mon folks, let's be fair. The original cast was not the be all end all of SNL.

All those people you list are classics of SNL. They have been gone for a long time. May Phil Hartman be enshrined as one of the most talented individuals to exist. The man was a genius and talented as hell, before, during and after SNL.

While I liked a lot of things she did, I never cared for her Hillary spots, or for her time on Weekend Update. Well, except for the Palin rap... The cast is getting weaker and weaker again.

Amy rules.

I take solace in the fact that lately a lot of SNL alums have been making cameos. Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, Chris Parnell, and Maya Rudolph. This is something SNL should continue. Invite back alums for a skit here and there. Make it a regular thing!

I hope she does well, although I would think the ideal gig for a new mom would be doing a Hillary skit on SNL every week or two. Maybe adding the cartoon gig, but to each her own. I hope whatever sitcom she gets, its a hit. Watching Tina Fey's sitcom (or trying to force myself to watch Tina Fey's sitcom), has been a struggle. I keep telling myself, "you like it, you like it," when in reality, I don't, I don't.

Anyway, happy happy days Amy. Good luck.

I think she peaked when she was playing Hillary Clinton while Tina Fey was Sarah Palin. She said some of the funniest things. I couldn't stop laughing when she insinuated that Hillary was a fluge http://www.entertonement.com/clips/25865/Saturday-Night-Live/Saturday-Night-Live-Season-34/Saturday-Night-Live-Season-34x01/Don%27t-Refer-to-Me-as-a-Flerg-I-Googled-it-and-I-Do-Not-Like-It

She got out at the right time. The originals, like Chevy Chase, Gilda, and John Beluhsi, and others, made SNL big... and then when Pohler and Tina Fey came on the scene it put a big spark in the show again. They may still have a punch in the game for a while, and the newest fodder of foolish comes with the hurling of shoes at BUSH! They can get at least two or three weeks of great laughs from that!!! LOLOLOLO!!!

There was a lot of history between Chevy, Gilda and Amy and Tina.

Anyone that thinks this cast has the talent of Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Lorraine, Jane, Gilda, or Eddy is dillusional. Not going to happen. We got lucky to have Adam Sandler, and pushed it with Rob Schnieder, who actually had talent. But once Will Farrell got in there, Tina, and Amy? No, it went downhill fast. Just the facts. You can't compare the casts. you just can't. Perhaps it was poor writers, or bad actors, or both, but the combination was just a total snore. Hell, even some of the guests had more talent than they did. The bit with Justin Timberlake was to die for. But seriously, it should have quit while it was still in good standing. It woud have been classy and shown respect to those that came before them. Sorry, but SNL sleeps with the fishes.

Agreed. The originals Gilda, Jane, and Lorraine were the best.

Best of luck to you, Amy!

Saturday nights will be a little less enjoyable without you! I look forward to seeing what you do in the future and hope you take some time off to enjoy that blessing of a baby boy!

I'm not a fan of SNL over recent years, but I do love her Hillary, and will NEVER forget her "Palin Rap".
