I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Greta Van Susteren

Fox News Greta van Susteren has some harsh words for her former employer CNN after hearing that the network is laying off people right before the holidays:

They did it again! CNN fires people just in time for Christmas! Make you sick?

People often ask why I left CNN.....I didn't like management. I liked my colleagues in the news gathering but the corporate culture that seized management when AOL came in (Steve Case and Gerry Levin) was disgusting. Everything changed. Don't get me wrong - I like corporate organization and a corporation should make money - what I don't like is a mean spirited selfish management that, despite not doing its job of efficiently running the company, lines it pockets. And then the topper? because the management didn't run the company well, CNN fires loyal people to meet some bottom line the management failed to meet. Blame the little guy not the way the company is run? Go figure! Well....CNN management did not disappoint me yesterday...meaning, it met my low expectations.

Read her full rant here.

Dogs, all over, started howling the moment the bandages came off from that facelift.

BTW, the folks who don't like the "looks" thing keep coming up don't see the irony in getting a facelift, expressly to improve one's looks, prove ineffective.

Greta, And Fox News is not mean spirited and selfish? Ha Ha. Do you have a bridge I can buy?

Please tell me that Greta did not just say that she faults CNN for blaming (laying off) the workers and not looking to the poor management who caused the problems. Maybe she should be talking to Shelby and his pals about the auto workers if she's so concerned about the poor working men and women of this country. What a repub hypocrite!

Hi Greta;
taking your competitor to task looks like sour grapes, especially if that competitor happens to be your former employer. On another note - I was so looking forward to an expose by you on O.J. Simpson's latest travails. Oh, you don't know who O.J.Simpson is? He's the guy who really gave you your start in "journalism", remember?

Boo hoo, poor folks at CNN laid off. Well, I'd rather be an ex CNN employee than a current FOX NOISE employee. Rumor has it she was fired from CNN for being mistaken for a cubist painting.

I find these letters beneath contempt. What this journalist looks like is besides the point. I do not even know who she is but I defend her existence as a woman who should NOT, I repeat NOT have to suffer comments about her personal looks, her facial surgery and so forth. If you think she is a bad journalist..fine..talk about that. If you do not like the companies she worked for or is working for, talk about that and why. To talk about her on a personal level, I think detracts from any criticism of her skills as a journalist. I have no love for either of these right wing stations and I agree with the comment that CNN ought to have stayed in the hands of the founder for then it might at least have been reasonably neutral. Now, I watch neither CNN nor Fox for American news. They both tell strange stories about facts on the ground. I cannot comment on her skills. I say, listen to what she has to say and report on that and leave her face out of it.

I agree with you on the looks thing. But it is "beside" the point, not "besides". I write this because I have seen that word on numerous occasions here. I just want us all to communicate more good than that.

Can someone tell this oogly broad that umm other major networks along with companies and businesses and governments (state, local and federal) are being impacted by the economy and having to do cuts to budgets and staff?? DUUUUH!! If she was more intelligent enough she would also realize uuum even Fixed news has probably had to do some budget and staff cuts just like ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, and NBC news!!!! DOUBLE DUH!!!! But that last sentence of mine seems silly since intelligent and Fix news is such an oxymoron!! LMAO

Can someone tell this heifer to go back to her obession over Natalie Holloway or some other missing chick!! That letter she wrote was such a wasted effort!! She needs to read the comments to her letters on HuffPost instead of the comments from the Fox news koolaid drinkers!!!!

Well welcome to the real world. Do you think CNN is the only corporation laying off their lowest paid workers because of bad business mistakes made by upper management? Please, it is happening all over the place. Why not do a few stories on it Greta?

It's amusing to see the abuse Huffers feel compelled to make against Greta, basically endorsing CNN's actions. Any Corporation, even one losing money, could wait until after the holidays to do their dirty work. It's an indication of how clueless they are about business and human relations.

This is not an endorsement of CNN's actions. It is just some abuse to hurl at Greta!!!

It's dumb of you just like Greta to not realize that other companies are impacted in the same way around this time of the year and especially with how bad the economy is. It is bad and wrong with what CNN did but they aren't any different than any other company getting rid of folks towards the end of the year. Recently there was a DC area security company having to do just like what CNN did.

IT is dumb of Americans to assume that the first thing to do to cut costs is to cut staff.

The recent sit-in by the workers in Chicago involved over 200 workers. When they "WON" the total payout to 200 workers for notice pay, vacation pay etc was 1.7 million.

JUST THAT! 200 people got approx 2 months wages and health benefits totalling less than 1/5 of what..say a Bill O'Reilly gets ( 10 million) for the year.

If you are paying just peanuts to staff, wouldn't it be better to keep them and fire the management?

Or stop some of the fancy living? the numerous trips out of state, abroad?

CNN could do better and SHOULD. And anyone buying into the "worker must go first" mantra should take a good hard look at his own workplace and pray he is not a WORKER.

Let's see. "And then the topper? because the management didn't run the company well, CNN fires loyal people to meet some bottom line the management failed to meet. Blame the little guy not the way the company is run? Go figure!"

Sure does sound like something else we have been reading about..? I know, the auto industry. Hey Greta, this kind of passing the buck is now an ingrained corporate tradition. Part of the Republican era. Don't you people over at Fox just love it?
