Obama Christmas

President-elect Obama took his daughters, Sasha and Malia, Christmas tree shopping on Sunday afternoon.

According to the pool report by Margaret Talev of McClatchy Newspapers:

President-elect Obama, daughters Sasha and Malia and an unidentified friend of the girls went Christmas tree shopping together. Pool is told they picked out a tree but that the tree will be delivered later. No opportunity for questions.

Motorcade left the Obama house 2:25 pm CT and arrived 2:33 pm at an unmarked tree lot a short drive away on 53rd St. and S. Kenwood across from Nichols Park. The pool was held across 53rd St, by the park, and the view into the lot was partially obscured by a chain link fence, trees and part of the motorcade.

Pool could see but not hear glimpses of Obama and the girls walking around the lot and talking. Dozens of locals gathered across the street to watch with the pool. Before getting back into the motorcade, PEOTUS stopped, waved repeatedly and said, "Merry Christmas, everybody." Motorcade departed tree lot 2:41 pm and returned to the house about 2:45. Pool is holding.

Here are photos of the Obama family's shopping excursion:

So if they are going to Hawaii for Christmas why are they getting a tree?

I surely hope they'll have someone to water it while they are gone, does the secret service get drafted to do this, otherwise it's gonna be a crispy explosive fire hazard.

I love our new first family. And those girls are growing like crazy!!!! We have so much to be thankful for. As for the gray hair--he knows better than any of us what price he is paying for his service. I have never felt so encouraged about the future.

I love stories like this, it comforts me to have a real family with values in DC, it also proves that he is not an islamic shoe terrorist like the RWN's think he is. This proves that Obama is a Druid-christian-muslim.

I just like to look at photos of Obama! After eight years of trying to avoid looking at that smirk on Bush's face, I am hungry for a face that makes me feel good....I hope I am not disappointed too much.

Exactly! Been afraid to look at photos for 8 years for fear of loosing my lunch or worse. Is such a relief to enjoy look at photos of our President-Elect. In fact, don't think any presidential family has epitomized family values like this family. That photos of this family offend the Republicans clearly demonstrates how false and even hypocritical their claims of family values are. Obama disappoints me in many ways and yet he is still very exciting and a true "Change we can believe in" from the Bush administration.

If only the MSM press was covering Chicago and not Wasilla politics, this would be such a non-story.

All the media is saying they should have been covering Chicago rather than Wasilla. I can't believe that the media would think that everybody media outlet and their mother was looking for dirt they thought they could find on President Elect Obama, believe me there were no stones unturned. The thing is, there is nothing there to find. I'm not saying Obama is a saint, but beleive me the Clintons and the McCain campaign and all those other hate mongers that were trying to bring Obama down to keep him from becoming the DNC nominee and then the President, they have dug up everything they could find, from Rev. Wright, to trying to say the man is not a citizen. Give it up, he won the election fair and square, even if they try to lie and say he won because of the Economy (lie, he would have won without the crisis), get over it and move on, it just make the RNC look like the bitter losers they are and idiots for picking Sarah Palin, which is the real reason why they lost.

"Pool" needs to leave them the f*&^ alone!

Am I the only one who's noticed how much gray has appeared on Obama's head since the beginning of the general election? He'll be all white by the end of his first term! Pray for his health, people!

That's not unsual for his hair to gray...he is at that age...and it is only the tip ends of his hair that grays...notice after he has had a hair cut/trim you willnot see as much or any...only when his hair grows out is the gray obvious. But still pray for him...

Every man (and probably in the future, woman) who goes into the White House as President ends up with quite a bit of gray in their hair when they leave. Barack is just getting a head start.
Well, not all the Presidents--Ronald Reagan seemed to have kept his hair color the same at the start and finish of his terms. Wonder if he had a little help there.

Reagan -- oh, hell, yeah! Doesn't anybody remember Ronnie giving speeches in Sackamenna in the rain with streaks of brownish red down the back of his beige raincoat?

I have noticed also! As much as I'm happy that he's the new president, I am amazed at how gray his hair has become! Don't understand why anyone would want to be President of this or any other country! They'll never please everyone and every move is chronicled.

More than the gray hair, it is the crows feet that worry me. I've seen Black men with gray hair, but when have you seen a Black man with crows feet at Obama's age. And, even worse, there are times when he looks and sounds exhausted. Gods! It took FDR 4 terms to kill himself from overwork. I hope Obama makes it through his first term. The way he pushes himself, I fear Biden may be president before the end, long before the end of the frist term. Even in these heartwarming photos above, he looks very tense and preoccupied.

Obama, man, you won'd do us any good if you kill yourself from overwork. You might as well give the Secret Service the slip, spread your arms and invite the assassins to have free pot shots. You may not be all that we wish for, but even as you are, you are the end to an long, dark, awful nightmare. Please take care of yourself, if not for yourself and even your family, then for the American people and even the 7 billion people of this world.

The White House tree will be picked. They will still go out and pick out their own tree for their own home. They will spend their holidays at home, not in the White House.

Ways to extract fuel from XMAS trees...

Bush's oil connections finally paid off. They burne-d down Sarah Palin's Church.

If you want to know why, other than she deserved it...

Even though I trhink Palin is one of the BIGGEST hypocrites alive; it's not nice to be glad that the building burned with innocent people in it, who could have gotten hurt.

I really like Obama, but this almost seems like stalking. After we reform government we really need a reform in media, it's encouraging unhealthy behavior. Someone should do a study on the affects of over exposure in the media or too much media intrusiveness. The study should be both on how it affects the "celebs" psyche, as well as the psyche of the obsessed public feeding this market.

Give Obama a break. (and at least a little privacy)

Yes privacy is good but not for the president. There is that 'liccle thinghy' called the Presidential Records Act. In a way it's a good thing, else we would never have known that Nixon was a crook and that Booooosh lied us into a war.

There is no privacy when you live in "The People's House" and run the people's country with the people's money, elected BY the people. The Presidency is an honor to those who are lucky enough to hold the position. They know full well what they're getting into before they signed on. I love Obama but his life is only private when he goes into his private residence and closes the door. The White House and any and everything he does as President is for public consumption.

If the press did not follow him around, we wouldn't know that he exercised daily, worked a food line during Thanksgiving, or bought this tree. These are just the fun things, but if Obama was doing something wrong, we'd want to know.
