UPDATE 12/18 at 9:45 PM

Among the donors to the foundation are some that may represent conflicts of interest for Hillary Clinton in her role as Secretary of State, according to the The New York Times:

Also among the largest donors were a Nigerian businessman who was close to the onetime military ruler in that African country, a Ukrainian tycoon who was son-in-law of that former Soviet republic's authoritarian president and a Canadian mining executive who took Mr. Clinton to Kazakhstan while trying to win lucrative uranium contracts.

Such contributions could provoke suspicion at home and abroad among those wondering about any effect on administration policy.

Matthew Levitt, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, said donations from "countries where we have particularly sensitive issues and relations" would invariably raise concerns about whether Mrs. Clinton had conflicts of interest. "The real question," Mr. Levitt said, "is to what extent you can really separate the activities and influence of any husband and wife, and certainly a husband and wife team that is such a powerhouse."

The potential for appearances of conflict was illustrated by Amar Singh, a politician in India who gave $1 million to $5 million. Mr. Singh visited Washington in September to lobby for a deal allowing India to obtain civilian nuclear fuel and technology even though it never signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty. He met with Mrs. Clinton, who he said later assured him that Democrats would not block the deal. Congress approved it days later.

Scroll down to see the statement from the Clinton Foundation on its donors:

From AP:

Former President Bill Clinton laid out a list of big-ticket donors to his foundation Thursday that is heavy with foreign governments and business interests sure to have a stake in the policies that Hillary Rodham Clinton carries out as secretary of state.

Story continues below

Saudi Arabia and other foreign governments gave at least $46 million, while corporate donors included the Blackwater security firm that protects U.S. diplomats in Iraq.

The contributions went to the William J. Clinton Foundation, a nonprofit created by the former president to finance his library in Little Rock, Ark., and charitable efforts to reduce poverty and treat AIDS. President-elect Barack Obama made Hillary Clinton's nomination as secretary of state contingent on her husband revealing the foundation's contributors, to avoid questions about potential conflicts of interest.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia gave $10 million to $25 million to the foundation, and other government donors included Norway, Kuwait, Qatar, Brunei, Oman, Italy and Jamaica. The Dutch national lottery gave $5 million to $10 million.

The Blackwater Training Center donated $10,001 to $25,000. The State Department will have to decide next year whether to renew Blackwater Worldwide's contract to protect U.S. diplomats in Iraq. Five Blackwater guards have been indicted by a U.S. grand jury on manslaughter and weapons charges stemming from a September 2007 firefight in Baghdad's Nisoor Square in which 17 Iraqis died.

The Clinton Foundation released a statement outlining the numerous initiatives that donor money has gone to:

The seven initiatives include: the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative, the Clinton Global Initiative, the Clinton Climate Initiative, the Clinton Hunter Development Initiative, the Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative, the Clinton Economic Opportunity Initiative, and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. The Foundation also funded the construction of the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas, which was turned over to the people and government of the United States in November, 2004.

"I want to personally express my deepest appreciation to our many contributors, who remain steadfast partners in our work to impact the lives of so many around the world in measurable and meaningful ways." said President Clinton. "We have just begun and it is an honor and privilege to be on this journey alongside each and every person who is committed to our foundation's ongoing charitable mission."

The Clinton Foundation has received contributions of all sizes, from people of all means. The median gift amount over the life of the Foundation is $45. Nearly 90% of gifts (179,000 contributors) are valued at $250 or below, with 12,000 individuals contributing $10 or less. In addition, in a sign of the significance of the cause and the effectiveness of the work, a noteworthy 57,000 contributors gave more than once to the Foundation and/or the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund.

It is interesting that in the U.S. Constitution, only two crimes are specifically mentioned as grounds for impeachment: Treason, BRIBERY and then unspecified "High Crimes and Misdemeanors". Why would anyone donate one cent to this edifice-tribute to malignant narcissism and self-indulgent, reckless betrayal of public trust.

Blackwater should lose all contracts and be shut down for good. We don't want the new N@z! SS in the USA or anywhere else. Blackwater's employee numbers are increasing all the time and it isn't to protect.
Wake up America! They are high priced guns for hire while our troops are getting shafted.

Before you insulte us (long time suppurters and large donors to the President-elect – myself included), you should know some of the largeses foregin government that donated to Bill are some of the most brutal regims in the world. They paid not becase they love him, but to have access to Washington insiders, and receive favors when needed.

As one of the bloggers, “stell”, so nicely put it: “Let me get this straight, it's ok for this Indian to get a civilian nuclear deal approved, without being on part of the Non-Proliferation treaty, but Iran should be obliterated?”

Yes, they pay, or bribe, our “civil servants”, for a reason; The Mafia, in Sicily, got a name for that; Pizzo (Protection money). These donors gave Bill few dollars in the form of “donations”, or supported his wife political ambitions, or guaranteed his daughter’s corporate climb. But, what they pay is nothing when you compare it to what they gain in return in the form of access and favors in Washington.

If Al Sabahs of Kuwait, or the Abdullahs of Saudi didn’t pay up, do you thing we keep on saving their arse like the way we did in Kuwait. These people are some of the world’s most brutal tyrants who don’t give a damn about their own people, let alone about what happens in America or Africa. Saving the arse of these puppets is the very reason why America is in its current mess to begin with.

Doesn't anyone find it ironic, appalling, unconscionable that thereis more thorough vetting of Rodham Clinton for this prospective cabinet post than there was for her presidential candidacy? And all of these conflict of interest, sleasy financial dealings were known and concealed. How fervently they resisted releasing their income tax and library and "foundation" information, with the revelation of their $110 Million worth only very very late in the campaign. Now, out of desperation to rescuscitate some grand role for her,, the Clinton scheme team is willing to relinquish transparency of the their dirty dealings -- but not totally. If Congress confirms her it will tell us something significant about them, and reaffirm the nation's lack of trust in their integrity The Change we need in these times means stepping away from that corrupt Clinton duo.

That's right. Iran is a sponsor of terr-orist groups around the world and has a fanatical and seriously oppressive small group of mullahs running it. The idea of n-lear Ir-an scares the Ar-ab world more than anyone else. India is the biggest democracy in the world.
Start thinking with your head for a change.

Or...you can think with your racial biases, like ML here. I suppose those are located in his head, so it makes him think he looks smart when he favors countries that cave to Western interests and culture and decries any culture that is not "westernizing"

(PART TWO)

Saving the arse of these puppets is the very reason why America is in its current mess to begin with.

I think I am not alone when I say; we, the American people, are sick and tired of watching our brave soldiers being used as a “private army” to save tyrants arse, or the oil companies’ contracts and interests. Especially when the oil companies, in collaboration with their tyrant puppets, are bankrupting us as a nation.

(PART ONE)

These “donors” are not giving money because they are kind and generous “philanthropists”. Look at the map, and you will see where from most of the money comes from. These, mostly Sheikhs, Kings and business moguls are paying for access and favors. They pay, or bribe, our “civil servants”, for a reason; The Mafia, in Sicily, got a name for that; Pizzo (Protection money).

As Bill makes a great living as the head of his foundation, flying in private jets, paid by donations from these foreign entities, you can be rest assured that America’s interests are being sold in the form of favors and access. When Bill stays, for free, at “Burj Dubai”, the most luxuries hotel in the world, built by the high oil revenues, he might see it as a “generous” gift from Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum, but you can bet on it he will sing their songs if needs be; remember his support of the “Dubai Port Deal” despite his wife’s calculated opposition. Talking about not communicating with your wife to get your stories right!

Yes, these donors gave Bill few dollars in the form of “donations”, or supported his wife political ambitions, or guaranteed his daughter’s corporate climb. But, what they pay is nothing when you compare it to what they gain in return in the form of access and favors in Washington.

Why isn't the donor list for Bush's propaganda library revealed and a big issue here? That list garnered some $200 million in funding. Why the constant, endless Clinton bashing?
My guess is because the Clinton's threaten the Ruling Class as they actually did raise taxes on the wealthiest households (all of which was reversed by the Bush tax cuts) and the Clinton's healthcare reform actually involved planned expansions of quality Medicare Medicaid single payer care. In other words, the Clintons were genuine progressives (as in re distributive policy) and that's the real reason the media, including ostensibly left leaning websites, continue to attack them.

That is the least of our problems with the Bushes. No matter how much I think poorly about the Clintons, they don't compare to the Bushes. I am concerned of their ties. I bet the list is remarkably similar. Hillary has not made a point to separate herself from the Bush policies while Bill is hanging out with Sr.

uhhh
What do you mean HRC has not "made a point" of separating herself from the idiotking's policies?
Seriously?
Do you listen to her speeches and statements on the Senate floor?
She doesn't have to separate herself or make a point of it because she has never been tid to the idiotkings policies.

Do some research.

As far as Bill and the idiotking's father goes they are doing charity work, they are doing community organizing on a large scale- I don't like Daddy Bush biut I am certainly supportive of anyone trying to do anything to help the world, to make some attempt of putting a dent in the ugliness and hell people live in.- Why waste time condemning those who are doing what they can to make a difference?
I think it far more mature to a. know the facts and b. do something with them.

Actually the answer to the secondary headline "which donor present a conflict of interest to Hilary?" is none of them. That was the whole negotiated agreement made between Obama and Bill Clinton that he would step away from day to dat operations and would have his speeches (audience not content) vetted by the Obama camp. But don't let facts get in the way of a good old fashion "what if Hilary did kill Vince Foster" media frenzy.

This is so sick. Clinton never got more than forty six per cent of the vote. Obama doesn't need them. Hillary and Bill are a ball and chain around the ankles of Obama's political future.

List of donors? It is sickening. Pass the vomit bag.

They don't even get into the question of the amount of the donations and the timing. Hillary was considered the absolute lock for the presidency when Bill was going around raising these huge amounts. My gosh, this was a shake down scheme that would have put Jesse Jackson to shame.

How sleazy can you get?

Well, you forget where they came from, with all their brilliance.

Before they came to the White House, they were your "poor white trash."

They owned nothing, and ALL they got was from selling the American people and the Democrats.

Charity?

Without looking at the financial statements, and just knowing that the corrupt Clintons are involved, I would guess that that foundation is a front group to channeling "bribes" to the Clintons.

Yup, that's about right.

"The potential for foreign donors to the Clinton foundation to create the appearance of conflicts of interest for Mrs. Clinton as she handles foreign policy matters was illustrated by Amar Singh, listed as giving between $1 million and $5 million. Mr. Singh is apparently a prominent Indian politician of that same name.

In September, Mr. Singh visited Washington to lobby Congress to support a deal allowing India to obtain civilian nuclear fuel and technology from the United States. The deal was controversial because India has developed nuclear weapons but is not a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Mr. Singh met and posed for photographs with Mrs. Clinton, afterwards telling Indian reporters that Mrs. Clinton had assured him that Democrats would not block the deal. Congress approved the nuclear cooperation deal with India a few days later."

Well you can easily find out .
Go to www.govtrack.us and see everything she has voted on, how she has voted, the bills she has supported or sponsored, what she has fought against, links to statements and speeches.
You will find the same for every other Congressperson.

That would require an open mind and would destroy the fiction projected of Hillary Clinton, the "evil mother" .
Fairness and perspective is hard work, you have to research, read, do critical analysis to come up with coherent fact based opinions- and even then you will partly project your own "stuff" (as we all do- _so you have to take that into account when examining your reasoning--- it means you actually have to be thinking for yourself instead of following along parroting the meme that has been fed to you. It requires selfexamination and brutal honesty .
Those hooked on making sure there is always someone "other," someone who is the outcast, the scapegoat, can't go there. Its dangerous. They need someone to demonize and cast out so that they can have some kind of sense of self. Their sense of self, like their ideology is built on what they are against--- an example is the very neocon/far right thinking we've seen the last 20 years.
Sad to see so many who call themselves progressive so self indulgently wallowing in this mud.

Seems to be exactly the opposite of what Barack has been saying and living since day one.

Grow up kiddies.

The real reason is because there is a very serious case against them. Open and shut. Absurd reason after absurd reason as to why they can't even begin to do a preliminary search of evidence for the case. If there were no merit, it would have been thrown out a long time ago. All the Clinton supporters can do is malign Paul's name and present false information about the case. The Clintons need to get into the white house to protect themselves. They appointed the judge in the case. The technicality of the last case is inherently unfair. Anybody can see that.
