We all know that 2008 could go down as the worst year for newspapers. Gannett, McClatchy, and others slashed jobs like never before; Tribune hit the skids; and many papers cut back pages and sections. But some Pulitzer records were broken at The Washington Post and Election Day provided a single-copy feast.
With that, and more, here is my annual Top Ten Newspaper Industry Stories of the Year for 2008. Let's hope 2009 fares better.
