I Like ItI Don’t Like It

What's the first thing that hits me? Man, this guy is in good shape! The second thing? This is the President? Seriously, when was the last time we had a president with abs like that?* The press should have nicknamed him Joe Six-pack!

But look a little closer, and what do we see?

Oh, say it ain't so, Joe! Bottled water? I'm disappointed, Mr. President-Elect.

Whatever gave you the idea that Obama was some kind of Enviro-guy? A quick google will show you that it ain't so. You can do even more research by checking his scorecard at the League of Conservation Voters website. It is a dismal record -not much better than McCain's.

Uh, his score is low for 2008 because he was running for president and didn't vote on most of the bills. However, his record for the 107th Congress was a 96%. I see you've gotten into the habit of distorting the facts...

I'm disappointed in the person who wrote this lame article. *rolls eyes*

What the heck is he suppose to do walk around with a tap in his pocket. First of all if you put tap water in a water bottle that you reuse you still have to clunk around with it after you've drunk all of it bottle water on the other hand you find a recycle bin and dispose of it freeing up your hands.

I drink any kind of water but plain water wont touch thats stuff without my vodka.

Thought "that cannot be what the article is actually about"... then yes it was.

This is a waste of electrons, and I am going to sue because I've wasted my time typing.

"caught with bottled water"? LOL. I believe he was also "caught" exhaling CO2 into the atmosphere. The PC police are officially head quartered here in the land of huffnuts.

Perhaps he should stop passing wind, too? I suspect that you suffer from Gastrointestinal Anxiety Syndrome (GAS).

What a fatuous complaint!

(1) Bottles can be recycled.
(2) This is just not a big deal, relative to a President's responsibilities. A President could use the carbonated bottle/can deposits that exist in many states, and get them applied to all food packaging, or even all packaging of any kind.

I fully understand the "example setting" angle, and without a picture of President Obama throwing his litter on the beach, there is just no legitimate complaint. How fatuous!

Most are not recycled, simply thrown in the trash, and end up in landfills where they leach chemicals for years. And it's not just recycling, but the waste of fuel to transport something that most, not all, people can get from tap water. And the plastic leaches chemicals into your "bottled water".

COULD BE, but most are not.

I think this article is a little over the top. As a person whom drinks our well-water on a daily basis, I do drink some bottled water when at the beach, traveling etc. I usually use the same bottle for the day if I can be lets face it its no worse than people who buy a starbucks coffee and throw that cup away. I save any bottles I can if traveling by car and recycle them when I get home.

If we would recycle the bottles like Germany does, it wouldn't be a problem.

Don't get caught drinking water in public!

Bottled water is bad for many reasons. The quality is no better than tap water. Think of the ramifications of paying a private company for critical drinking water. What would happen if the water producers formed a cartel like OPEC? What if they raised prices to $5 a bottle?

It's unfortunate that Americans don't have the critical thinking skills to realize that privatizing drinking water is dangerous.

Buy a reusable aluminum bottle. Drink tap water. Filter it at home if you want to.

Even with the best water filter, my home tap water tastes like c r ap

If Obama drank tap water, you would suddenly love the taste.

I personally don't like the thought of adding flouride to the tap water. If I wanted to medicate myself, I could buy some pills or a rinse. As far as bottles go, we should be recycling. Yet another thing that Europe does far better than we in the states.

If Obama said he thought fluoride in the drinking water was a great thing you would change your tune.

"You know , using leather wineskins would be better."

That would involve killing cows. PETA would object.

good point.

the container would need to be impermiable and cheap so metal and plastic would be a good material. Plastic is cheaper and lighter than metal so it would cost less to transport the same amount of plastic to market. To cut down on the harmful detergents used in cleaning solutions each bottle could be filled and sterilized at the factory and be a one-time use item. This seems to be the most viable solution for and individual to carry water about with them.

Good for him!

BTW: Some may find it shocking, but there is not only nothing wrong with bottled water, after all it's better than bottled Coke, but it's actually good for you. All children should be encouraged to carry bottled water. Obama is a good role model.

Now, don't get me wrong, for all those who want to ban gay marraige, bottled water and people they don't agree with from speaking, there are those like myself who support the free expression of ideas, feelings and beliefs that are different, whacky and even kooky. There is a limit to politically correct thinking.

Merry Christmas!

God, I wish people had nitpicked over Bush the way they're nitpicking over Obama's every move. Bush and Cheney got away with murder, literally. And we're upset about Obama carrying around bottled water?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:07 AM on 12/23/2008

And all this noise for a guy at the beach on vacation. Would it have been Okay if he'd been carrying a soda? How about juice? What if he'd had a refillable water bottle? Would we have lectured him on the substance the water bottle was made from? I grow weary of all the perfect people who try to inflict every thought they ever had in their life on this man. He really has enough to do with saving the world and all. Let him choose his own food, drink and toilet paper without all this "help".

Yea, can you imagine the same type of criticisms aimed at Bush?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:17 PM on 12/23/2008

Bush and Cheney were so bad lots of people blacked it out so they wouldn't have mental anguish. That and the GOP crime family would wack you if you spoke out in public.
