Reporter: Jindal Will Only Run In 2012 If Obama Is An "Unmitigated Disaster"

Bobby Jindal is seen by many in his party as the Next Big Thing, a political comer who at 37 offers competence, reform and a fresh face for a Republican Party in dire need of all three.

John Maginnis, a longtime watcher of Louisiana politics and publisher of the LaPolitics Weekly newsletter, put it more bluntly.

"He doesn't want to run against Obama unless Obama is an unmitigated disaster," observed Maginnis. "In 2016, it will be an open seat with no vice president running."

Jindal will slaughter Palin in a debate on who is more conservative. Not only is he a better debater than she is, but he is also even further to the right than she is. He wouldn't have given the oil profits of Louisiana to the citizens in the form of a check. He would award a campaign contributor with a grant.

If the GOP runs Jindal they would lose all (anti-intellectual) Palin supporters and they can't win with Palin because she even divides the GOP .., this is quite a quandry for the GOP. Even the GOP knows they can't win elections without at least some of the independent vote and some of the minority vote.

Jindal's extremist pro-life views (no exceptions, even to save the life of the woman) should be enough to lose the independent voters.

He should have run THIS election cycle, since Georgie has been an unmitigated disaster!! Obama has something sadly lacking in the repub. party - INTELLIGENCE. While they are circulating racist jokes, Obama and his team are planning the future of the country. "Pathetic" is the best description for the repubs. I thought the same.... he's at least smart enough to know that he's no Obama. I think repubs think a brown skinned person might attract minorities to their party. B/c maybe they figure we have short memories and won't remember all the insults they've thrown our way in the name of "satire" and comedy as they call it. But thing is clear, Jindal will not get support from the Indian American community, leave alone other minorities.... I happen to know a ton of them and they won't be sold on the cheap w/ a Jindal ticket

I do not see him on the same level as Obama. Bright he may be, but he does not have Charisma. A leader needs to be charismatic in order to generate enthusiasm. I do not see him generating enthusiasm on a national level.

When will the GOP realize that their brand is dead and that this a center-left country!? They don't need a fresh new face they need a fresh new platform that will appeal to the whole country.

And while I won't count my chickens before they hatch, based on how Obama has handled himself, his extreme popularity, and political capital I feel strongly that this country is in for a great four years.

I'm personally rooting for Palin 2012. That would be so entertaining.
