Rice: Much Of Bush's Foreign Policy Deserves 'A+'

This morning on CBS, Sunday Morning's Rita Braver interviewed Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. In a portion of the interview that does not appear to have aired, Braver noted the results of the recent Pew Global Attitudes survey which found that "the U.S. image abroad is suffering almost everywhere." Braver prompted Rice saying, "It has to be more than just a perception problem." Rice dismissed the poll's results, claiming that the Bush administration has "left a lot of good foundations":

That is true. Of course, before Bush took office, there were buildings on those foundations.

Lay off the kool-aid, Condi and try opening your eyes. We are in two wars , mired in debt and about to go into a economic depression that will make 1929 look like a party. The country is in far worse shape than GWB left it. End of story.

Look at 'em all, making excuses and revising history. The fact is, he did so astoundingly a poor job that it made it possible for an African American to be elected President, ahead of when it would have been possible. IF he had not lied his way into a dumb, costly war; IF he had handled the aftermath of Katrina better; IF he had not violated the Constitution with eavesdropping and torture; IF he had not let the economy go into the tank from neglect, among other things, does anyone really think Americans would be so desperate for change that Barack Obama would have gotten out of the Democratic primaries?
