Thousands Of Shoes Mysteriously Appear On Miami Highway

Miami Shoes

MIAMI — State troopers are looking for a charity to take thousands of shoes that were dumped on a Miami expressway, tying up rush hour traffic. Lt. Pat Santangelo says the Florida Highway Patrol received a call about the shoes Friday morning.

Santangelo says he's not sure where the shoes came from. There were no signs of a crash and no one stopped to claim them. He says he hopes someone will take them because he doesn't want to send them to the dump.

Workers using a front-end loader and a dump truck were able to quickly clear at least one lane by sweeping all the shoes to shoulder, but delays were expected until they could all be removed.

I think the shoes were thrown in response to Jeb Bush's candidacy for Senate. Never again will a Bush grace Washington -- they're through. Or is that threw?

C'mon, folks...we all know that the shoes belong to Condi Rice, the closest US dignitary we've got to Imelda Marcos. Remember, she's the shoe monger who was caught shopping for shoes on Park Avenue during a break from service while Hurricane Katrina made its laborious and cataclysmic descent on New Orleans. And here we are at the onset of another major national crisis, the next Great Depression and Condi's had ANOTHER footwear faux pas -- so many shoes to ship out of Washington...and the truck carrying them simply broke an axle under the stress. Or broke a heel, if you want to look at it that way. (This is a joke, btw, for those about to "reply" in flames.)

I think there are thousands of Iraqi people looking for the truck load of shoes they planned to throw at Bush on his way out of town.

Bizarre.

Are they used, or new?

I like the theory they were on the way to DC to be thrown at Bush as he leaves 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

For Miami it really is not Bizarre and honestly it's possible the shoes were going to be exported to Haiti.

It's either art, a protest, or the Rapture! Those could be the shoes of the few thousand people who made the grade for Heaven!

One week, a reporter throws his shoe at someone in Iraq. making news. Another week, lots of shoes show up on the Miami Freeway. Could someone (or some group of people) be telling us something, sending a message?

Some smart people in Florida heard Bush 41 pining for Jeb Bush to be President and are taking measures to register their protest.

In protest of the Gaza war, thousands of protesters threw their shoes inside the gates of Downing Street in London. My guess is that the shoes in Miami have similar origins.
