An upstate New York developer donated $100,000 to former President Bill Clinton's foundation in November 2004, around the same time that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton helped secure millions of dollars in federal assistance for the businessman's mall project.

In this day an age, you're not innocent until proven guilty when you're in politics. Apparently your guilty as soon as ANYONE who's ever given a single penny anything you or your family is involved in benefits from any single thing you're ever helped to enact. Where is that line between guilt and innocence? Hillary Clinton helped enact legislation allowing the developer, Robert Congel, to use tax-exempt bonds to help finance the construction of the Destiny USA entertainment and shopping complex, an expansion of the Carousel Center in Syracuse.

She also helped secure a provision in a highway bill that set aside $5 million for Destiny USA roadway construction.

The bill with the tax-free bonds provision became law in October 2004, weeks before the donation, and the highway bill with the set-aside became law in August 2005, about nine months after the donation.

Congel and Philippe Reines, a spokesman for Hillary Clinton, both said there was no connection between his donation and her legislative work on his project’s behalf. Reines said the senator had supported the expansion of Carousel mall “purely as part of her unwavering commitment to improving upstate New York’s struggling economy, and nothing more.”

Ooooh, how evil! Offering tax breaks to companies that build in environmentally friendly ways. I can't imagine why a Democratic Senator of conscience would possibly support anything that helped the environment. Tens of thousands of people have donated to Bill Clinton's foundation because it has helped millions of people. Some of the people who donate will be people who conduct business in the United States and some of that business may benefit from laws that are passed. That doesn't mean that one was a result of the other. We'd be more than a little bit ticked off if Hillary had stood against an environmentally friendly law, that she would ordinarily support, simply because one of the many companies involved had in the past or might in the future contribute to a foundation that helps millions of people but happens to be her husband's foundation. Hillary didn't and wouldn't do anything wrong in this regard.

It's been going on since before '92, constant accusations against the Clintons with no proof of any wrongdoing. The only thing anyone ever found was that he lied about a B*** J**, and how much taxpayer money did Ken Starr waste to find out about that?

US Senator Charles Schumer today announced that at his request the Senate has passed a tax bill by a 69-17 margin that includes green bonds for the DestiNY resort in Syracuse.

I skipped a vacation and didn't buy any new clothes for a year so that I could donate more generously to his campaign--­----------­---and even I think this is ridiculous. It would be immoral for Hillary to reject a law to support environmentally friendly building simply because Bill had a foundation that helped millions of people and someone who benefited by building environmentally friendly buildings might someday donate to that charity. she's a senator who got malls and roads built to create jobs and maintain an economy upstate. sounds like what senators are supposed to do. if businesses and developers upstate support her because they feel she is doing the right thing for the state what's the problem? you become a supporter of a politician or a cause when you concur with the big picture. this is a crime?
