I lived in Japan for 10 years and am married to a Japanese women. There culture is goofy. They do really believe this blood type nonsense though.

Reading the story's Blood-personality traits, mine was way off. It sounded more like the daily horoscope in the newspaper. It could be true, but it usually isn't.

This is a non-newsworthy story. The superstitions that flavor East Asian societies have been around for millennia, and there is nothing new about them. There is no valid evidence to support the claims that blood type has anything to do with personality, diet, or susceptibility to any disease. The only individuals who need to worry about blood type are blood bankers.

I think blood type has more to do with how you are able to get certian types of food into your bloodstream than in behaviour.

For those of you crapping on the story, I feel badly for you. I think there's a huge lesson in this. The whole story is really about the Japanese and something about the culture we haven't heard before. I found this a real eye opener.

And since a lot of Westerners believe in the blood type diet, I think this says a lot culturally, about us all.

I would suggest you read a little more deeply into the article and you might find it quite interesting.

I agree it's culturally eye-opening; however, I find it disturbing when teachers use it to "predict" how students will perform in their classes. It smacks of phrenology and other dubious personality "sciences."
