NEW YORK — Though he wasn't picked in the finale of "The Bachelorette," Jason Mesnick isn't just giving love another shot _ he says he's found it.

Mesnick, ABC's newest "Bachelor," says he's engaged to one of the women who compete for his affection on the 13th season of the reality series, which was to premiere Monday.

The 32-year-old accountant has finished filming "The Bachelor," but can't reveal his pick until the finale, which will air this spring.

Mesnick says being pursued by 25 women made him empathetic to DeAnna Pappas, who chose snowboarder Jesse Csincsak over him during the "Bachelorette" season finale.

"It gives you a lot more respect for what she had to go through," Mesnick said.

Csincsak and Pappas, co-host of Lifetime's "Get Married," have since broken up.

This time around, "The Bachelor" has a new twist: There's a child in the mix _ Mesnick's 3-year-old son Tyler. Mesnick checked with Ty's pediatrician and a psychologist before exposing him to the show's unique situation and any separation involved.

"He's always in the forefront of my mind," Mesnick said.

I forgot to ask--who picks these women???? Seriously some are a joke he could have sent 20 home last night and ended the show next week.

I heard that he picked the widow, who also has a child, who i'm sure is on the forefront of her mind, while she wh ores herself out on national television. yay for America! We're number one!

Well since we all know Deanna is coming back I don't care who he picks as long as it
is not her. I think they ruined the show by A letting her back and B showing us in advance she is coming back. That woman has a problem she doesn't need a man she needs a shrink---seriously. These things never work out anyway other than Trista and Ryan every other couple has ended up breaking up or not even picking anyone. Plus what is wrong with these people that they need to find a mate on national TV and advertise how they fall for this person in front of the world, must be good money I can't think of any other reason. I certainly don't consider them to be good parents to leave small children alone for that long, sorry Jason included and not once but twice for him. what does he say to his son here's your new mom that I picked from the TV show.

The making of the Bachelor is entertainment, like the filming of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Now, that one worked out. Maybe this will. Probably not though.

I'm just amazed this is the 13th season. Yet the show has probably on been on for about 5 years or so. MTV does the same thing where they tell you it's the 30th season of some show that's been on for like 4 years, lol.

I guess us Black men aren't worthy enough to be a Bachelor. There have none to date. Same old, same old.

I would love it if their were a black "Bachelor or Bachelorette". Hey, you never know.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:31 AM on 01/06/2009

Yeah, I guess not. I use to laugh when I would see one black girl among the many white faces. They had to put a token person in there to appear fair knowing full well she would never be chosen. This is what I'm talking about when I say Hollywood has no creative producers geared toward people of color.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:57 AM on 01/06/2009

why does this matter though? And its not so much about people of color as it is "black" or "hispanic". Both the US and the world at large are made up many more colors and ethnicities. I never grew up seeing people on tv who looked like me or shared my culture, ethnicity or religion and it never held me back.

Consider yourselves lucky to not get put on pathetic display as another bad white cultural idea.. To me this is an embarrassment to men and mostly to women. They all seem sad and desperate.
My girl LOVES this show. At first I left the room. Now, I sit there and and laugh at every single flaw stroking my warped sense of humor.
And the production is bush league. Notice how they dub voices throughout the who show and it's beyond obvious to the point that I actually think they are trying to mock the entire project.
Not to mention that they feed into atypical fantasy land world that most girls suffer from. Fellas how many times do you get that look like you are supposed to be like these "sweet men". Welcome to the real world honey. We are all just smelly boys that would choose football and beer over champagne and a ride in an air balloon.

Are Heteros that desperate to make a mockery of marriage and then have the gall to claim LGBT people can't marry...

What a joke the hets are and this guy is your master :)

I still like the word "breeder" far more than "het" in a context such as this. It sends that message of playful contempt I so very much enjoy.

Can someone tell me why if he claims to love his kid so much he did not stay married to his mother? I am sick to death of these hets who make a mockery of marriage and are the same ones who claim my 28 year relationship to my wife and our three children can't marry.

Did he leave or was it the wife who left?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:33 AM on 01/06/2009

He has said a few times on the show that it was his wife's choice to leave the marriage. I read online today that she left him for another woman, though I don't know how much stock I'd put into that.

Seems pretty obvious that if someone really wanted to find a mate as much as this guy professes to, he or she would make much better use of his/her time by quietly going about the business of attracting someone, and not wasting it on so much public exhibitionism.

In other words, methinks the lady doth protest ....

The problem is, for all those weeks, the girls cannot "fight" or really argue with
the precious bachelor about anything. They will not recieve a rose if they get into
a real argument with that Mr. Perfect.
Instead, they must smile alot...pretend alot...endure alot ...and hold everything all in.
Gawd forbid that they "annoy" the precious bachelor with their dissapointments in him.

In the end, he will choose the girl that is the most "easy-breezy"...who doesn't "bother"
him much with her feelings..who seeems the most happy all the time.
Happy. Happy. Happy.
Once the show is done however...the "true" feelings come out...the FAKE smiles stop.
She raises her voice, she gets mad...he feels betrayed and shocked.
There is no rose to keep her on her "perfect best behaviour" now.
She is REAL....(and this is why these shows are FAKE)

He's a cutie but I'd want to know why his first marriage didn't work out. I'd ask the ex too.

Agreed. How the hell can you fall in love, on TV no doubt, with someone in 6 weeks?!!! To top that off, some of these women have relocated to where the men are to find out after a few months they no longer want to be attached. SMH....

Sounds like desperation and women wanting to find someone rich.

And yet people will still bring up the "sanctity of marriage" when shooting down gay marriage...

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:21 PM on 01/05/2009

Couldn't have said it better. Ironic, isn't it? Gay folks can't tie the knot and are a perceived threat to the institution, while these morons like Mesnick and the bimbettes that clutter reality television are free to enter into matrimony, over and over and over. Truly sickening.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:24 PM on 01/05/2009

From his pic, I'd say this is half a gay marriage.
