Nude Protesters From Spain Are All About Animal Rights (SLIDESHOW)

Huffington Post   First Posted: 2/7/09 Updated: 5/25/11

Are nude animal rights protests old hat?

We got word of a protest by AnimaNaturalis, an animal rights group from Spain, in which a semi-nude woman was painted like a wild cat of some sort and remained in a cage in a public area with a sign protesting keeping circus animals in cages.

But we had an awfully hard time finding much more information on it. So we think that maybe people don't care anymore. And maybe it's because animal rights protesters in Spain have been doing an awful lot of the same thing for a long time.

This is a very, very, long struggle and they should keep on demonstrating to promote animal rights for as long as they have the will and strength to do so.

LOL, sorry but these protesters look ridiculous. These kinds of tactics never win over serious-minded people or people who aren't politically active.

It is always beautiful for anyone to protest the abuse of animals however they choose to do so.

It is the secret horror of this civilization.

Animals are Earth angels and should be protected by us, not tormented and destroyed as they have been for millennia.

See Europeans will protest in numbers in person to get things changed. Maybe if Americans did that we would have gotten rid of bush a lot sooner instead of just complaining about him on the internet. Oh yeah no naked fat guys. http://insidetherockposterframe.blogspot.com

As long as the women are hot, they can protest as much as they want. RWOW!!

Is it wrong to get a little aroused by the girls in cages? I wouldn't mind be locked up with them or some of the girls with horns for a little of the old "interspecies erotica"..

But seriously.. don't we have much bigger problems to worry about in the world and in our country than animal rights..? I realize it's sad when some animals are harmed but people--actual people--are dying in America as we speak, every dollar or second spent towards animal rights could've been better spent towards researching cures for the thousands of diseases people are suffering and dying from. Someone you know in your immediate family is suffering from something that could be cured if more time and money was devotd to it. That's just a fact, like it or not: whether we are cruel or not to animals will be irrelevant to the future of our species.

Pseudocide
The point you miss, even in your species-centric viewpoint, is that callousness and cruelty to 'animals' readily crosses over to humans, who are also 'animals'.

Fostering beliefs that it is "fun" to kill animals for 'sport', or that it is OK to mistreat animals kept in captivity, or when bred for food - coarsens ones 'humanity', and makes for indifference to the treatment of humans who can be disparagingly catergorized as 'animals'.

Please define "humanity". Is humanity already defined by as not being cruel to animals? Who decides what is cruel and what is not?

If anything coarsens it, it is our treatment of each other. I would make the converse argument. When we evolve to the point where we can stop hating and killing each other then ending animal cruelty will follow.

Your argument just seems to be one of priority, in which you seem to find humans coming in second.

It is impossible to take these cute, naked Europeans seriously. What a bunch of self-obsessed morons, parading around nude as if it were some profound statement. Man, Spain is THE place to go for some hot protest action, guys. Europe is an irrelevant joke on a continental scale.

I don't think anything should be mistreated, animal or human but I do find it strange that these organizations are so opposed to people wearing fur or leather products. In the first book of the bible, in Genesis, it tells us that God made coats of animal skins for Adam and Eve to cover themselves with after they ate the fruit and became ashamed of the fact that they were necked.

Many are called, few are chosen.

I think god made the coats out of dinosaur skin, that is the only explanation for their extinction.

LOL. These failed models and actresses have nothing else to do. Heck, at least it's better than binging on Big Macs and "purging" afterwards.
