I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Rarely has a president -- to say nothing of a Democratic president -- been thrown into the arms of the business community on his way in the door as has Barack Obama.

It's a shotgun marriage, to be sure, compelled by the financial-markets crisis, the collapse in housing and the hemorrhaging of auto makers. The question now is whether the two partners can live together productively, or will slide into marital squabbling.

The "business community" had their votes as citizens. I'm not surprised that the dominant financial interests, accustomed to exchanging favor for campaign financing, fear they'll lose their preferential treatment.

ExxonMobil executives are adamantly against U.S. energy independence, despite its potentially positive impact on U.S. national security. They argue instead for continued dependence on oil producing nations, such as Saudi Arabia where the company has sunk heavy investments.

Tough luck, Exxon & Archer Daniels Midland, your GOP Sugar Daddies are no longer credible on defense, economics or social issues, and not likely to be put in charge of much of the responsibility for establishing justice, insuring domestic tranquility, providing for the common defense, promoting the general welfare or securing the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, ever again. I, for one, look forward to watching yesterday's over-privileged tax recipients trying to compete on a level playing field tomorrow.

I only hope before the WORDS do not out way the meaning and Obama understand the difference that need sto happend.

I am not talking about Energy Independence (a foreign policy), Green (green cash for the rich to keep)

Green should mean clean, safe and free (at least cheap energy).

I live in one of the few places on earth where people are scarous and Green Windmills built BY THE people (direct government grants), FOR THE people to buy the energy, CASH for the farmer (freely changing land use law), NO CASH outlay by the rich to have tax incentive deductions for the ownership and of course GOD's free wind.

GREEN should not be the transfer from oil and coal Owners to WIND and SUN for free and business as usual It should be for the earth and its inhabitants with equal investment and return

The false choice scenario beaten into our brains by the republicans that a healthy environment comes at the expense of our economy has to be buried and left for dead.
The oil companies and old industrial thinkers have a mentality of scarcity that has ruined or country and threatens to bring civilization to it's knees. Even in our present state there's enough wealth in this world to make every person living a millionaire.
No more false choices based on fear. Time to let go the lines and head out into the new frontier everyone.

Yup, the brave new world do not have to mean doom. It could mean equality in opportunity and distribuiton from a world we all equaly own. We share the pain of nature, why not the booty

And they fund politicians' campaigns for a few hundred thousand dollars, so that after they receive our money at the pump they can then take more through taxes, and have valid science showing their debt to society, such as James Hansen's climate research, suppressed by Presidential fiat and subjected to the most despicable, un-scientific, spurious accusations of "skeptic" William Gray and the like.
