NEW YORK — They play brother and sister on "Dexter." Now in real life, Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are husband and wife. Hall's spokesman, Craig Bankey, said on Friday that the couple eloped in California on New Year's Eve. Hall, 37, and Carpenter, 29, just finished the third season of "Dexter," the Showtime series in which Hall plays the murderous title character. They've been quietly dating for about a year and a half.

At their wedding, Carpenter's grandfather's wedding band was attached to her bouquet of white roses.

It's gonna be a long road until season 4. I'm glad this came out now though so we can maybe wrap our heads around it. They have an interesting story to tell the children. Actually that would be an uncomfortable conversation. Nevermind. Bad idea. I love the characters individually. Of course I'd rather not love them romantically but hey... to each his own. Happy marriages are okay in my book. GET ON WITH IT IS RIGHT! Make season 4 better than 3. I really can't wait to see how Dexter deals with married life. Not Michel C. Hall.... DEXTER!!!! :0)

How great for both of them! Dexter is, by far, the best drama on TV.

Cool good for Michael. Surprised they were able to do it and no one found out. Dexter is a great show. http://insidetherockposterframe.blogspot.com/

Good for them that they managed to keep it quiet. I hope the wedding speeches didn't have quite as many expletives in them as Carpenter uses on the show! I don't think I heard a character swear quite so much - except maybe Billy Bob's Bad Santa!

You didn't watch Deadwood, then. Too bad.

Are you a "Deadwood" fan, too, Prof? I loved that show! It's not too often a series combines thought-provoking (even though rather "blue") dialogue, fully-fleshed out characters, AND the opportunity to watch as a lawless community slowly takes on the trappings of "democracy".

Oh, to work with David Milch...sigh.

That show is freaking addicted. I saw first season back to back without getting up from my comfortable chair. It had me. I tried to do the same with True Blood and couldn't. That sucked (pun intended) that i couldn't feel the same way and enjoy it.

From me...I loved 6 Feet Under, and I hate most CSI type shows. So, to turn on Dexter (Serial Killer as CSI guy) and find I like it was a surprise.

I love most Alan Ball stuff, and I enjoy fantasy TV. I watched 8 episodes of True Blood...and I wanted to love it. I really did. It had a great cast... but that show is a mess from the story telling perspective, and worst of all...BORING and predictable.

Brother and Sister getting married?

Dang for a second I thought this story had to have one of the Palin clan involved somehow...

Clearly it's better than if they were actually brother and sister and yet cast as the romantic leads. Congratulations - may it last long and be joyful.

Dexter is so great, as was SFU. Michael really makes the show and Jennifer's character is great also. can't wait for the next season.

How delightful!
I'm tickled that they managed to stay so much under the radar and I wish them long years, great joys and small troubles..... and a wonderfully smooth time shooting seasons 4, 5, 6, etc (Dying of Dexter withdrawl here- get on with it!)

On Dexter, they're not actually biologically brother and sister. Are we seeing a preview of a possible season four arc???

Hold on now, they may actually be half brother & sister, since Harry had an affair with Dexter's mother. We just have to wait and see.

It's going to feel a little weird for a while watching the show next season knowing that Michael and Jennifer are married, but they're both wonderful, so of course I wish them the best!

Harry wasn't his father (he just had an affair with her). If you saw the first season, his brother killed their father.

They're not half siblings. If you remember from the first season, he found his dad, who was murdered by his brother. His DNA matched up, so Harry's not his bio father.
