Zimbabwe Feeding Elephants To Soldiers: ZimOnline

HARARE -- Zimbabwe's cash-strapped government has resorted to slaughtering elephants to feed thousands of hungry soldiers, sources told ZimOnline.

The state Parks and Wildlife Management Authority has since last week supplied elephant meat to army barracks across the country that have run out of food, our sources who are senior officers in the army said.

A fifty billion dollar note that will buy two loaves of bread and now elephant meat to feed hungry troops. Add to that Cholera, murder and beating of political opposition and downright kleptomania of white owned farms. All in the name of what?

Please God bring back the bad old Rhodesia and end Zimbabwe's suffering.

I hate to say this but Africa doesn't deserve the beautiful animals it has. Not one of them. It's one thing to be a carnivore thru the natural chain of existing but this is asinine. From poaching to this? SMDH...

And to think people don't want Muguabe out of office. They should feed him to the troops.

Nothing strange with eating elephant meat, just as there is nothing strange in eating deer meat. This story is making a big deal out of nothing.

Mugabe used to be known (by the western world and it media) as one of the most competent African Head of States untill he siezed 98% of the country's arable land from 2% whites owners . How he was turned into a monster overnight (by the western media) is no surprising.

Whether one admits it or not, Mugabe ( and Zimbabwe) is being punished for returning Land to its rightful owners. Majority of Africans know that and that is why he is and will be viewed as a Hero by many long after he is gone.

The thing that is strange is that elephants are dying out, whereas deer breed like rabbits. But since there aren't deer running around by the millions in Zimbabwe, I guess they will make do with what they have.

Mugabe may have started out great but taking land away from white people would be like giving plantations in the South to any black person in the U.S., not knowing if they were descended from slavery or not. How did Mugabe know which white people's ancestors were the missionaries who stole the land? He didn't. He just did a snatch and grab and created a blanket "gimme" policy.

He appears to be a loon now, time for him to go.

Elephant can be quite tough and stringy if not ccooked right. Almost as chewy as antelope. It is best cut into chunks and stewed for a long, long time to make it tender.
