I Like ItI Don’t Like It

This week in the best of late night jokes, Jon Stewart gives his take on Joe the Plumber's new job as a war correspondent, Conan argues for a plastic surgery bailout (not unlike that porn bailout), Colbert makes a crack about Bill Richardson's weight, Leno shows footage of Obama's golf game, and Letterman brings more Great Moments in Presidential Speeches.

Watch:

Great idea - sending Joe to Israel. Next stop should be Afghanistan where he can snake out Bin Laden

- Maybe he could become a crack reporter in Iran for sunsequent mission.

Let someone keep sending him away to every manner of GoodRiddanceStan till the memory of Joe just fades away. . . at least the American public will not be supporting his sad and chronic talk addiction any longer.

Regarding Joe the Plumber - from PJTV:
A fan says:
Joe is a very intelligent man. The reason the main stream media is responding with such negativity is that they are afraid that he will connect with the everyday man in the USA and they will lose. I would rather listen to the straight facts from a plumber or an electrician than from someone who puts the liberal spin on the truth. Thanx, -Phil M., Forest, VA

Sound familiar? Palin is a very intelligent woman as well. If we repeat it often enough, it will be so.

Liberal spin! Thats code for stating facts on issues from a sensible position instead of taking a knee jerk reaction and ending your argument with liberal this and liberal that as if those were the dirtiest words in the English language.

That's just it, you're not getting information from a plumber, or and electrician. He isn't either. That speaks volumes about conservative politics. It's all fake. This man is no more a plumber than I am the pope. So why was he pretending to be a plumber, couldn't conservatives at least have found a real plumber.

Did Bush really say that about Jews and Italians? This was actually my first time hearing that come from him. Bush has got to be a heavy drinker still, because, no one is that stupid, dumb or ignorant. Why did no one make a bigger deal of this in the media?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:07 AM on 01/12/2009

To be fair to Bush - not that he deserves it - this one may have been a case of taking something out of context. One can imagine he was making a point about how some people now say we have too many immigrants from Mexico, just as 100 years ago Italian and Jewish immigrants were the scapegoats. Of course even if that *was* what he was saying, he could have worded it better, like just about every other damn thing he's ever said.

I am so going to miss that segment on Letterman's show.

Youtube "Bush gaffes." There are only 240, but that's bound to go up soon.

Put it on dvd and call it the Bush Legacy disc

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:28 PM on 01/12/2009

I'll need a Bush tape/dvd of his many foolish and stupid lines to give me the laugh of the day.

Obama is just too smart and good to laugh at. Bring on the DVD of Bush Sayings.

I am going to miss this part of Bush.

It's gonna be mucho difficult to replace Bush as daily comic fodder, if not impossible.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:24 PM on 01/10/2009

Agree - the clips of Bush talking are almost always funnier than the paid jokers!

"Once the US had TOO MANY JEWS AND TOO MANY ITALIANS"?? Where in hell was this video and why wasn't it on national television?? Talk about an explosive remark...and of course...the MSM's just let it go....

I dislike the President as much as anyone, but be careful with inappropriate outrage. Bush was commenting on the notion that the U.S. has too many immigrants from Mexico. He was actually defending the idea that immigrants aren't, by definition, bad.

The mainstream media "just let it go" because the statement, taken in context, is reasonable and appropriate. President Bush has done so many unconscionable things and made so many ridiculous remarks that there's no need to get angry over something like this.

Agreed, it was a worthwhile point to make, to put current anti-immigrant feelings into their historical context. But it's really easy to imagine a better way of phrasing it.

The sad thing is that the mainstream media gave Bush a free ride for years. America's expectations were so low from Bush that gaffes like this one weren't even news.

uhh... sorry, DDK... no even-keeled, fair-minded analysis welcome here.
Knee-jerking hotheads only!

I knew what he was talking about, but it was still a mistake to say it. There has to be a better way to say that over the history of our country that there have been "limits" on the number of people that have been allowed to immigrate here than to point out two ethnic groups who have been discriminated against as those two have been.

I knew it! There's the PROOF!

If you say stupid things a lot, people just expect you will continue to say stupid things and may even reward your stupidity by voting for you, not once but TWICE!

Conan is described as an intelligent fellow, but his show is aimed at the dumbest of the dumb. Lots of mugging, making faces, and pushing for laughs. Quite unwatchable if you have any brains at all.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:54 PM on 01/10/2009

Conan's is a kind of show I slap myself after I watched it. It is so stupid I think he even knows it too.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:41 PM on 01/10/2009

Judging by your comment you're probably not smart enough to realize that the comedy in the show is meant to be "stupid". I mean, come on, the "celebs" he has on there with the mouth? That's STUPID comedy. It's also hilarious.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:10 AM on 01/12/2009

I agree! And slapping his hands together while he's talking. Doesn't he realize his mike is picking it up? The mugging and faces gets old, night after night.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:23 PM on 01/10/2009

That is why Conan is funny. It is stupid. He has a masturbating bear for god sakes. It pre-monologue is all about self-deprecation and how 'today show will be great'.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:52 AM on 01/11/2009

his show is aimed at people who want a laugh. who's your comment aimed at?

Soon we will all be spared the pain of watching the fake president make strange sounds that only he seems to get! Ten days left and then this strange creature will fly to Texas for a BBQ with Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfled. Condi Rice has plans with girlfriends in Palo Alto, California and won't be attending the affair.

I sure hope someone is planning a 'Shoe Parade' for Him in Dallas right... Now..?

The S ecret S ervice would arrest You if you threw the shoes directly at him as they went by... BUT?

If you knew the route the shoes could be thrown in the street well ahead of his convoy so he would have to drive though them. Still get the message across.

(Has there been a run on Shoes in the Thrift Stores in Dallas..?)
