Oak Park Administrators Conceal $175,000 Payment To Connected Consultant

Oak Park village administrators concealed a $175,000 payment to a consultant, who happens to be in a book club with the village chief financial officer's wife.

JCG Corp. was awarded a village contract in July 2007, not to exceed $75,000, to implement a piece of accounting software. In the end, the company was paid $250,000. The unbudgeted expense was made during a budget crisis which saw the village cutting both staff and services to close a $3.1 million deficit.
