Saturday Night Live: Rachel Maddow Interviews Burris And Blagojevich (VIDEO)

"Saturday Night Live" kicked off the year with a new Rachel Maddow impression by castmember Abby Elliott, who joined the show in November.

The show opened with Maddow interviewing Roland Burris (Keenan Thompson) about his repeated attempts to break into the Senate.

Watch the week's other skits here.

Maddow then welcomed Rod Blagojevich, played by Jason Sudeikis in a horribly realistic wig, who went on to call Maddow an assortment of wrong names from Ellen to kd lang while swearing and making threats.

This skit was funny. I disagree with all of the posters trying to disparage either the skit or abby elliott in particular. I thought she was great and all three of the snl castmembers in the skit were great. yeah the lesbian jokes were gratuitous, over the top and frequent - that's the whole point! an oaf like the "blogojevich character" on snl would be exactly the type to make those repeated one-liners..........repeatedly. I thought they did a good job.

SNL really needs to do a skit about all of the obsessive Rachel fans on HP. Geez, I like her show as much as the next person, but some of you are completely nuts. :)

stupid outdated cliches all the way around. didn't even capture Rachel Maddow's personality - just her haircut. They totally got Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton... but this was very lame and unimaginative.

I just love how they appoint almost all of the Black characters to be played by Keenan the same way that Snoopy was to portray all of the animals for the Christmas Play in "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown!".

I feel like the whole dialogue between Maddow and Blagojevich was an excuse to call Maddow a "dike" in a tired, non-ironic way. In general, SNL's "Whoa! Gays!" skits leave something to be desired.

SNL and TF - who are they? Who cares?

Kyle Mclachlan? I love Rachel, but I always thought she bears a close resemblance to Will Wheaton. Google some images if you don't agree...

I wonder if Rachel took offense to this skit.

The Dutch kid with his finger... That really had me LOL... Otherwise it was a so-so performance. As I stated in a reply here, Tina Fey/Sarah Palin has set the bar too high for impressions now :)

Abby 's impression of Rachel stinks to high Heaven. So does the other two impressionists' impressions. So bad that their names have been omitted to save them from embarrassment. We don't wanna give the impression that SNL is heading down the toilet, do we?

Rachel didn't discuss it on her radio show nor on TV. Guess she wasn't very impressed.
