I Like ItI Don’t Like It

As I taught you long ago, the Golden Globes aren't so much a showcase for award-worthy talent and polarizing fashion as they are a hotbed for exclusive prattle. To wit, shortly after Sunday's kudosfest ended, Melissa George presented me with a doozy of a scoop: She's leaving Grey's Anatomy, STAT.

"It was my choice," the actress-slash-Golden Globe nominee (for In Treatment) confirmed to me at HBO's red-hot after-party, held poolside at the Beverly Hilton. "My last day of work is Tuesday."

But lest you think this is yet another in a long line of rocky Grey's exits (see also: Isaiah Washington, Brooke Smith, possibly T.R. Knight), George, who joined the ABC soap last November as Mer's maybe-gay BFF, is leaving on the best of terms.

And why not? If it worked for McLean Stevenson, it'll work for her!

She never really seemed to fit in - certainly more the writer's fault than hers.

All I can say is thank goodness! Her character really stank up the place even worse. Oh wait, I shouldn't care I said I was dumping ABC since they dumped "Pushing Daisies."

Her acting skills are far above the trivial GA. She was great on In Treatment.

Central casting! Quick, we need another blond!

I think she was supposed to fill the gap left by Kate Walsh, which clearly did not work. No fault of Ms. George though.

Great move, get off that sinking ship as soon as possible, your young white and pretty, you might still have a shot at a career in hollywood.

Who cares. I don't watch this show anyway.

Then why comment? This story was in the entertainment section. So why waste time commenting that you do not care and do not watch the show? Do you honestly think people care you do not watch this show?

I have fun asking people who gripe "I don't watch that crap" what it is they DO watch on TV. Usually it turns out to be 'Nightrider' , not 'NOVA'.

It felt to me like she was little more than an overblown extra on the set. Her character seemed to have parachutted into the middle of the storyline (if you want to call what they do a storyline) as though she had been part of the plot for years. It was the producers & writers who botched it. ms. George is a decent actor and did all she could with what she had. I would've prefered they increase the airtime of one or two of the comic relief interns that are always cluttering the background, or give the character 'George' something to do with his part besides look perpetually befuddled.

I agree, her character appeared out of nowhere. My biggest annoyance though, was her really bad British accent. Sometimes it was there, sometimes it wasn't. Kind of like Madonna's.

I didn't mind her. I haven't liked TR Knight from the beginning - talk about suspension of disbelief THREE hot doctors falling for this schlub? puh-leeze!!! LEAVE ALREADY! Also, as a widow, I am COMPLETELY put off by Denny returning from the dead, I really don't need to see her hot sex with her DEAD man every week, I don't get mine back

I haven't watched the show in two seasons. I didn't realize they had brought Denny back. That must be a pretty stupid storyline right there.

It's the worst, ever.

I'm not unhappy. Her character was weird and over-powering.

sad to see how far this show has fallen since it's first season. the first year was so fresh, witty
and smart. now...well...you know....garbage.

Maybe they should have kept Washington and worked it out, instead they had to scrap one of the three major threads of the show.

Maybe she realized the writing is god-awful and decided she just couldn't take any more of it.

I tried watching it but the character's are just so mean & hateful to each other.
Not a real working environment esp. in a teaching hospital.
The weakest link always gets canned but here it's just drama and they're forced to work with one another.
Stupid show with idiot writer's.

Oh tisk tisk. The last show i saw where all the characters were actually kind and thoughtful to each other starred Donna Reed.

Why is she leaving? I saw her, and she stated she was going to work on Tuesday, not that it was her last day? I think Knight should leave after his coming out, his role on that show has been just silly. Like he's being punished for Washington being bias. Please.

Or the fact that hes a bad actor, not like hes amazed anyone on this show, or any of his other previous works.
