I Like ItI Don’t Like It

As Israeli forces pushed into Gaza on Sunday in fierce fighting, Minnesotans half a globe away weighed in with fierce opinions.

About 750 supporters of Israel's action crammed inside the Sabes Jewish Community Center in St. Louis Park to show their support of Israel in the deadly conflict. And outside, 250 protesters gathered to show their dismay.

I applaud these people for their noble stand. Republicans and Democrats alike support this action, as does the majority of the American people. I thank all for standing up for their electorate and backing Israel in the defense of their freedom.

In the same way most Americans and their politicians supported the war in Iraq?

Why do you think this will turn out any different than the invasion of Lebanon?

Killing innocent people and spreading the hatred is not the way to end this conflict.

It is the way to PROLONG the conflict.

If you love Israel you must take a stand against the 100 years war. Israel cannot be at constant war. It will only end with their destruction.

As long as there is no vote involving two of these fellows...or we could be here forever.

Here is my question; what would you do if you lived under occupied territories with little regards to your rights? What would you do if you saw your own land being taken away, trees uprooted, your own homes demolished so the illegal settlers can go and build their own compounds? This is what is going on in the occupied territories in West Bank and Gaza for years. What is the future of this people? Live under these oppressive conditions for ever? Do Palestinians have rights?

Interest groups have to go, especially foreign ones.

Here's what I would do - and what any fit American would do if we were forced by an occupying foreign army to live under those conditions: I'd throw a rock. If I could get my hands on some gasoline, I'd make a petrol bomb and I'd throw that. And if I could acquire a crude minor league rocket I would most certainly fire it at my enemy. I would resist in any way possible. That's what I would do and what any fit American would do. Remember the give-me-liberty-or-give-me-death Americans? What's happened to them?

"Interest groups have to go, especially foreign ones."

Great idea. Let's get rid of the NAACP and ACLU first.

How will ever get change when corrupt lobbies like AIPAC and MADD control every rep. in Washington?

good offering to the Gods of AIPAC.

Disappointing, but not surprising.

oh good
so now we know that NEITHER of them has the best interests of Americans at heart - just Israel.

No such thing as an ethical politician.

Wholesale support without demanding those conditions which abide by international and humanitarian laws is a careless and calloused precedent.

Is Coleman trying to morph into Franken? Supporting Israel and his hair getting more wavy with gel and browner?? It was a grayish color last week.. soon he will sport glasses and his plan to morph into Franken will be complete and he can take his senate seat back!

well you might have noticed that ONE HUNDRED % of seated Senators supported this crap, and they are certainly not all Jewish. Must be a lot of morphing going on.

I suppose if the Vatican started dropping white phospherous shells onto building sheltering children I'd be *obliged* to support the Pope due to my own heritage.

Great point. Why is it catholics could criticize the church over the child abuse fiasco, but jews are expected to always support israel. I know many who take issue with the occupation.

It is disappointing how every Ameican politician, with few exceptions, feels they have to bow before Zionism and support Israeli war crimes.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:13 PM on 01/12/2009

and commit war crimes of our own, in their name.

Way to go Franken!!.. I thought you will be a different kind of politician who sees through his own concious and not through what powerful lobbies dictate. And you wonder why those people hate the West! Over 1000 have been ethnically cleansed in less than 2 weeks and all the politicians are rushing to support the aggressors. Sometimes I truly wonder if the Whitehouse and the US Capitol are on Tel Aviv Ave in Washington DC. When will we ever realize that extremism is a response to aggression and loss of hope.

well since all the other Senators supported this you were asking for a lot. to think
Franken would vote against supporting Israel

Where have you been for 60 years? If the politicians don't "bow before Zionism and support Israeli war crimes" they will not be elected. Simple.

Franken supports Israel?

Shocking, simply shocking.

I would like to know when they will come together to support the people of America. The last time I checked Minnesota was not an Israeli territory. It is very strange that so many American politicians are willing to fight so vehemently for another country yet barely say a peep about the plight of our own. What a disgrace to the country.
